Re: Scanning B&W with Vuescan - skill me up

Hi. The Vuescan Bible by Sascha Steinhoff, who created Vuescan, suggests that the negative is first scanned at 4800 spi to produce a RAW file, a .dng. Then this RAW file is scanned to produce the jpg/tiff file. Also this gives you a RAW file which can be used in A.N.Others RAW file converter softwar...

Chris--if you are within striking distance of Salisbury I would be happy to bring my laptop and try Vuescan-if that helps.

Re: Problem with Epson V700

Hi This is just a guess but is it the scanner itself that is the problem or the software you are using. I have just bought the V850 and have 3 choices of software-Epson,Silkysomething or Vuescan. I use the Vuescan as I am familiar with it and it works for any scanner. If you have another software pa...

Re: Scotland, short term rental.

I can't recommend a place to rent for a few weeks but I do have a plot of land of approx. 0.4 acres at Eiden by Rogart in Sutherland which would be ideal to build a property to your own requirements. Post code IV28 3XD. John

Re: Maxwell focussing screens

George I cannot locate the PM I sent you but have removed my Ebony screen and can tell you it consists of 2 items. A plain rear glass plus a front (lenside) glass with centre focus spot, grid lines and the asymmetric axes lines. So does an Ebony fresnel lens come as a separate item and would it repl...

Maxwell focussing screens

I would appreciate any comments on changing the Ebony screen for one of those available from Maxwell.
I use lenses from 72mm to 360mm focal lengths.
Are they worth the expense in terms of ease of focussing especially with wide angle optics?

BJP 17 March 1988-reciprocity article

I don't suppose anybody has a copy of the British Journal of Photography dated the 17 March 1988. There is an excellent article on reciprocity failure by Derek Keeling. I am after trying to get a copy of the article as my copy has got lost over the years. I used the data from his article when I work...

Sal--I have seen this data sheet but it only shows a 1/3 stop increase for exposures up to 4 seconds. I am interested in exposures up to say about 1 minute. John
