I've changed my digi camera, to black and white only..so do not discard too many...but with 5x4 and half plate I don't discard at all.. I think what it is, is that with one shot only you really look at what your taking. and you are much more careful when you process it.

hi andrew, its just based on two boxes made with 2mm ply and 5mm board, one box fits to a 5x4 dark slide and the smaller box slides inside. so you can make a rough focus, then it's fastened and final adjustment is made with the lens focus. I made a focus screen by replacing the centre of a dark slid...

charles, making ground glass is easy. you need two pieces of glass. cut to the right size. then you need the stuff [carborundum] that people use to polish stones with. put one piece of glass on a pad of newspaper. put some of the powder and a little water on it. and then make a sandwich with the oth...

the new gimp 2.8 will support the import of 16bit raw files ,it's due for release at the end of the year????????

Just a thought.. did you invert the negs in the scanner? or in image software,? I find I can get better results if I do it in the software ..GIMP in my case...

Neil.
I've got a simlar lens and shutter,mine came off a voightlander, and it does cover 5X4 ok, but it's not coated
so I've never tried it with colour film, But Black and white reformance is ok.
