FS Nova darkroom tent

More studio clearance! It's one of these http://www.novadarkroom.com/product/329/Nova_Darkroom_Tent.html Mine is cosmetically hanging a bit. Holes have been gaffered and one of the support poles has been replaced. Fan works fine and tent is perfectly usable. If you want pics of the one I'm selling d...

FS Calumet C1

I'm having a clear out! Up for grabs is my Calumet C1. I bought this from Paul Graham a few years ago. It's clunky and not the easiest of cameras to handle and it's heavy. On the plus side it has amazing movements, you could almost tie knots in the bellows and good bellows extension. Included with i...

Re: Albumen Prints...........anyone?

I'd tone before fix. Make sure you rinse well in distilled water before toning and before fixing. The book you have is very dated and also has several errors. Google Christopher James and have a look at his book.

Best

Re: Black tape for Fidelity dark slides

I use gaffer tape. No, not that horrible cheap glossy stuff but proper gaffer tape. Goggle progaff. Bookbinders tape would work too.

Re: Albumen Prints...........anyone?

Hi Chris

I missed your post.

Gold toning should give a slight blue/mauve colour. Sometimes you do need to tone for a few minutes. Are you toning before or after fixing?

Re: WTB 5x7 DDS

I have also got a few dark slides for half-plate glass which will fit a 5x7 camera. So that leaves the wet-plate and dry-plate doors ajar. Best regards, Charles Do be careful that the film plane is in the exactly the same plane as the gg. I've seen holders that fit cameras but are unusable because ...

Re: Chemicals

Im sure it will be fine Susie although where I buy mine it has a 'best before date' of 5ish years. What are you going to use it for? just out of interest can you remember what you paid for it? Just know I'm gonna weep :)

Re: Spirit of Salts

This, in my experience of 15 years of alternative process photography, isn't a particularly good book. Things have advanced since this book was originally written, there are some errors and omissions and I'm not overly keen on some of the text particularly the light-heartedness which doesn't mix wel...

Chemicals

I can supply many raw chemicals used in historic photographic processes. My silver nitrate price is one of the most competitive in the world. Additionally I can supply kits for cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, gum bichromate and wetplate collodion. Please email me for further information.

Re: Albumen Prints...........anyone?

Hi Chris

To get a nice even coat of silver nitrate it's better to float it. Practice without silver nitrate in daylight first.

BTW I think in Christopher James alt book 2nd edition he gives a recipe for creme brulee in the albumen chapter :)

Re: Developing Plates

Hi Susie Totally agree with Alex re wetplate. Actually the guy who invented wetplate is Frederick not John, Scott Archer. I did try to find Frances' (Fanny's) grave but couldn't find it in the graveyard I thought it was to be. I guess the children are their too? Which graveyard are you talking about...
