Ok Thanks.

Are similar targets available for B/W - I rarely shoot colour transparency but thats not to say I have never wished to. Do I need these targets??

Calibration kit arrives tomorrow.

Cheers

Hi Jo Thanks for the reply. It is easy to get trapped in all the detail of digital. Last night I spent some time in my darkroom printing up some 8x10 negs of woodland shots and realised how tactile the process is and remembered how much I used to enjoy it. Here am I trying to make some sense ...

Hi Charles Yes I sometimes too feel that photographers try to structure an image in order to imitate art/nature, whereas painters seem to live it more. For me it is in the wider life experience and life goals of the artist/photographer that both forgives the excessiveness of order in a photograph or...

Favourite LF Photographers

We all seem adept at discussing equipment and technique issues, but I often believe that forums rarely discuss 'photography' ie favourite images and the masters who create them. Just for some fun who are our favourite LF photographers and favourite prints of all time. I'll think about mine and post ...

Thanks Jo and John for the advice. These are the main points I have distilled from the feedback: 1 Calibrate monitor 2 Choose cheaper papers to establish a baseline understanding of the capabilities and functions of the printer, preferably Epson's own. I cannot though see Epson Fine Velvet Art adver...

The 'Great Atlantic Gallery' is perhaps the most adventurous gallery in the area. It is run by a geologist whose business was maps, but also had an appreciation of the arts. He sometimes prints (on a 2100) and sells some of his own photographs notably from the American South West . There are 2 other...

Thanks Steve. A very comprehensive overview of digital printing with interesting pointers and tips. (As well as some great images). Looks like I have quite a learning curve to get the best out of the medium. On my last point, how large does other forum members print their files from their digital ca...

Epson 2400

Hi Joanna ( and everyone else). As I commented before, I was more than impressed with the prints you obtained with this printer. I needed a printer and had prevaricated for a long time but decided to buy the 2400 on the basis of your prints. I have since got through a box of 8x10 Epson Archival Matt...

Steve I have one but the motor has died; processing too many full Expert drums :? Am vaguely looking for a new/used motor but am now hand rolling in the slots of my darkroom sink which seems fine but tedious. I bought a lift new from Jobo (which they had to import from Germany) - not cheap. Got mine...

Hello from Somerset

Hello everyone It was great to meet some of you at The Wyndham Arms several weeks ago. I am sorry I couldnt have stayed longer or met up with more of you but I was tired after a 1500 mile drive from Spain and I had to work as well over the weekend. I hope you all enjoyed something of the dramatic co...
