Re: Mobile broadband.

I'm just interested! What exactly is this thread saying about Large Format Photography in The United Kingdom today? Does anybody here (in the U.K., it's The U.K Large Format Photography Group, not the USA or Europe or anywhere else, the U.K.) actually take a field, view, LF press or monorail camera ...

Re: New Ilford Obscura 5x4 pinhole review

Quality cheap glass lenses are readily available on the open market if you find pinhole results too fuzzy. Repromasters and Escopfots come highly recommended. If you have a modern shutter step up rings to fit the shutter are available and these can be superglued or Aroldited to the front of the lens...

Re: Extreme Flattery

Frank also published a book on Blurb, I was that impressed that I bought it. Friends who have seen it are amazed that it's all LF. He really knows how to get the best out of those US press cameras.

Re: Extreme Flattery

Dear Mr. /Mrs or Ms Santamaura (the gender thing has never been made clear). Mr. Petronio has always been generous with advice and in my case it has always been good and valid advice. I understand that you are also keeping a database on Ian Grant as well as myself and Mr. Petronio. Have you consider...

Extreme Flattery

It appears that some time poster on this forum, Sal Santamaura, keeps a database on that well known and much admired American photographer and poster on The LF Forum Frank Petronio. Do you think that he's doing the same to anybody here?

Re: Seeking Field Camera Suggestions

Andrew, I'm shocked, "bunk & junk". I've got one of the good 'uns. 4x5, 5x7, extension rail, the genuine B&J camera tilty thingy and genuine RED bellows. It'll fit onto a light tripod and works really well now that I've added a few extra fiber washers to make sure that things tighten up nicely when ...

Re: Seeking Field Camera Suggestions

You won't beat a Wista 45DX for looks, lightness and I could use a 65mm SA on mine (but that was a squeeze). So that's 65mm to 300mm lens capability, light enough to cart about, very nice and traditional looking and doesn't need half a ton of tripod. I've had mine for over 10 years and still use it ...

Re: 5x7 film holder confusion

I've contacted Fomafoto in Norway and they do not tax the prodoct from their shop. You might be taxed under your countries policies when you recieve the goods. They have fresh stocks in. They only have 13x18 in 100 iso. I'm stocking up in the very near future.

Re: 5x7 film holder confusion

Fomafoto also stock 5x7 & 13x18 films. Their prices look cheaper than others but I don't know if they include VAT.

Re: WTB lenses for 5x7

Hi Andrew, I was lucky, my Sinar/Copal shutter came with a Sinar Norma. Oh God, I promised that I wouldn't mention that I had a Sinar again!!! The Copal 3 has a better range of speeds as I discovered today trying to use an estimated F3 lens with 100iso film in bright sunlight on the Norma. I had a f...

Re: WTB lenses for 5x7

You could consider buying a Copal 3 shutter and using step up rings to front mount the shutter on any number of your lenses. I've used this method until I bought my Sinar with a Sinar/Copal shutter. LUC and Packard shutters are also worth considering. British Thornton Pickard shutters are also plent...

Dave, Just a suggestion, what about splitting the forum? One side for those of us who still use traditional methods, darkrooms, enlargers, contact printing, wet plate alternative printing methods and vintage lenses. The other side for the digi freaks and those who worship at the alter of Photoshop? ...
