WTB: 8x10 film (opened, expired or cheap)

Hi

Does anyone have some film they want to sell. Trying 8x10 for the first time so hopefully something cheap, maybe you have some sheets left from an opened pack or something expired. Cheers.

WTB: 8x10 film holder and 300mm lens

Hi

I'm expecting delivery of my first 8x10 (Sinar P) camera soon. Looking for a film holder and a 300mm (something like a Schneider 300mm f5.6) lens. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has any of these available. Thanks.

Re: Home Processing

Jobo rotary generally uses less chemistry. Also you can leave the process unattended until time is up whereas with inversion you usually have to agitate so often unless doing stand processing. Also a with a machine it is usually easier to get consistent and repeatable results than by hand.

Hehe, yes when you let it run down, it shows you the highest RPM achieved during that run.

Re: LF vs APS-C

Thanks for the link Martin will have a read of that. Good point Joanna, I never took heed in the past of when film is noted as daylight type so I shouldn't have dismissed Clive's comment my apologies. Tim that looks better thanks for the tip and also the bit about the dynamic ranges, I guess that is...

Re: LF vs APS-C

I didn't try to correct the colour balance when I took the film shot. I tried to set the white balance on both the film and digital shots in post. What I meant was that using the equivalent amount of exposure on both film and digital, the film one seemed to come out a lot darker and contrastier. Oth...

Re: Where's the best place to go to get a lens board cut?

An update to this, I bought some lens with Wista/Linhof type boards and although they were smaller and had a raised ridge on the inside (which mine didn't) they managed to fit okay and didn't seem to suffer from any light leaks.

LF vs APS-C

I've had a niggle in the back of mind about the perceived advantages of the larger formats over digital were worthwhile. So I did a little comparison with my 4x5 LF against a Sigma DP-1s with an APS-C sensor. The LF was with a Provia 100f with a Super Angulon 90mm f8 shot at f16 4s. Slide was scanne...

Re: Studio Photography

Ah yes, brings to mind what someone once said, to include all the stuff outside the subject when taking the shot so that you can decide how to frame later rather than having to do expensive reshoots later if you don't end up with quite what you want.

Re: Studio Photography

I'm quite interested in these as well. I can only rely on the ground glass as opposed to using a rangefinder on a speed graphic say. So I think an issue is going to be the subject possibly moving out of focus by the time the film holder has been placed and exposed.

Re: Where's the best place to go to get a lens board cut?

Great stuff Ian. I got confused by all the different graphics out there. My lens board appears to be the graphic view one in the link below http://www.skgrimes.com/products/lens-boards/graphic However that comment about sheet metal is genius. I have managed to locate a supplier on ebay who do pre-cu...

Re: Where's the best place to go to get a lens board cut?

Joanna I would think it would be a rather long time before I get anywhere with a hacksaw and a metal lens board  Ian thanks for the help will definitely keep it mind, although it is bit of a moot point now. There was a Komura 152mm f/2.8 on a dealer site that I was thinking about, but by the ti...

Where's the best place to go to get a lens board cut?

I'm thinking of getting a lens that is already mounted in a lens board (horseman 14cm) that is too big for my camera (takes 4 by 4in) so I am thinking I could get it cut down smaller. What kind of place would I look for? For example if you want to get your keys cut you can go to key cutting place on...
