FS: Nikon 240mm f/5.6 Nikkor W (covers 10x8)

I'm selling my 240mm Nikon lens which is in superb condition with (so far as I can see) pretty much faultless glass. It has a Copal 3 shutter and is mounted on a Nikon lens board, the smaller size that fits Ebony, Toyo etc (not the larger Sinar size) though of course it could mount on any size board...

Re: Is this industry really worth it?

I think Charles has pretty much nailed it...Lots of people interested in photography (when I first started photography in Northumberland over 15 years ago - as a hobbyist - you rarely saw another photographer...these days you see plenty), digital cameras which for not much capital investment produce...

Re: Which Dark Cloth?

Having owned one breifly when it came with a camera I bought I wouldn't recommend a Harrison cloth (or similar) for anything other than studio work. I don't understand the appeal of a huge heavy expensive darkcloth that acts like a huge sail and can flip your camera over in a light breeze. Seems to...

Thanks John, that looks much more like it and something I'll look into.

Cheers.

Re: Processing 10x8 B&W film in a developing tank!?

Thanks for that, interesting useful advice, but kind of confirms to me that there isn't anything out there that exactly fits...I don't want to get involved with those rotary processors - perhaps wait and see if anything comes of a 10x8 insert as you describe. I may just make my own, or probably get ...

Processing 10x8 B&W film in a developing tank!?

Hi, I'm wanting to develop black and white film, such as FP4 10x8 sheet film in Ilford chemistry. Nothing special or unusual about the process. What I am interested in is whether such a thing as a 'developing tank' or somesuch exists for 10x8 film? I really want to be able to develop the films (load...

Re: ND filters for long exposures

Thanks for all this advice, it has given me plenty the think about. I'm going to try with the polariser initially, which will give me an indication of how many stops I need (i.e. how much more light reduction over the two stops it offers) and I'll then pursue some of this links. Thanks again.

Re: ND filters for long exposures

If you've already got a polariser then you could also use that as an impromtu 1.5-2 stop ND. Actually Dave, that's a very good idea - I've got a good quality Heliopan polariser, that has a 2 stop filter factor. Perhaps I should try that first as a no additional cost fix. Thanks for the suggestion, ...

Re: ND filters for long exposures

Thanks Charles. I had reciprosity failure in mind, and this will add (which is what I want) to longish exposures. I want to try and capture some flat calm seas, not necessarlity go for the total mist effect, but at the same time, much more than the blurred wave effect.

ND filters for long exposures

Hi I was thinking about getting an ND filter or two (as oposed to grads where I have the Lee 125mm x 100mm 0.3, 0.6 ad 0.9 soft grads) to give me longer exposures for seascapes. I like to shoot around dawn / dusk, and quite often have exposures of 1second or more using Velvia 50. These filters (espe...

Hi from Northumberland

Hi, I've just joined the Forum, and am impressed with what I see so far :) I am lucky enough to live in Northumberland, near the coast, which is a great photography location. I'm looking to get back into some more serious photography, having done a lot less in recent years, when the children were yo...
