Re: Books on developing negs

Bruce Barnbaums latest book, The Art of Photography, has a lot off very useful info, ranging from the basics to quite advanced sheet film development. A lot of it is too much for me, but I'd still recommend it, as it's as good an account of the basics (my level) as I've seen, and the images are outs...

Re: Studio Photography

Sorry everyone - I can't get the file to attach to the post. I keep getting an error message saying, "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached".

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Re: Studio Photography

First, thanks to everyone who encouraged me with this. It really is appreciated. All I can say is that I will definitely try again. This was the first shoot I had in a studio with a proper model, so trying a 5x4 camera was probably running before I could walk. It was also a bad day for equipment fai...

Re: new member from manchester

Hello Muz Like you, I'm a relative newcomer to LF, and sadly my budget doesn't stretch to Ebony, Linhof etc. I'm very pleased with the results I've had with a second hand Wista which cost a few hundred pounds. It's wooden, so it's very light and easy to carry. All the best, and please post a few ima...

Studio Photography

A question for the collected wisdom of the board.... I don't do much studio work, but I've got a shoot with an outstanding model next weekend. She's also a photographer who likes film :) So, I'm tempted to try a few shots with a 5/4 camera and 150mm lens (which can connect to the studio flash system...

Re: Darkroom facilities

Dear Dave I don't know of any darkroom facilities near you, but you might want to have a look at Dave Butcher's website. He uses MF rather than LF (a Mamiya 7 to be precise), and he runs darkroom printing workshops. I haven't been on his darkroom workshops, but I have been on a photography workshop ...

Re: London Locations?

Val I haven't done much photography in London for a year or two, and things have definitely got worse since I did, but you might want to consider the City (avoiding St Pauls for now) at the weekend. I've photographed around the insurance area (Gherkin, Lloyds, Leadenhall etc) on a Saturday or Sunday...

Re: Photo Book Printing? Experiences..?

I've been impressed with the quality of Blurb's "pro" level photobooks. The colours are very close to what I saw on my cheap but calibrated monitor, and the paper quality is excellent. The software which you can download to set up your book is easy to use. And no, I don't have any connection with th...

Re: Trichromie

An similar technique is used for colour astrophotography, from serious amateurs up to the Hubble Space Telescope. A black and white CCD camera is used with filters (red, green and blue for "ordinary" images, narrow band filters for specific wavelengths to show specific elements, such as hydrogen or ...

Oxfordshire locations?

Hello,

I'm due to be in Oxford for a few days at the end of March. I know the city reasonably well, but I don't know the surrounding area at all. Does anyone know of a good location for photography in the area, other than the city and its colleges?

Thanks

Re: Peak District - Early April - Locale Request

I think the main sites have already been suggested, but there are a few alternatives if the light isn't great. Padley Gorge near the Longshaw Estate and Grindleford has some opportunities for photography in a wood with an attractive stream and waterfalls, which might be worth a visit if it's cloudy....

Another new member from Sheffield

Hello Everyone I'm another new member from Sheffield, just getting into LF photography after some years of using MF gear. I'm using a Wista field camera with 90mm and 150mm lenses. My main interests for film photography are landscape and architecture, using B&W more than colour. It looks like there ...

Re: FS - Scanner & Printer

Hello Paul

If you don't get someone to buy both the scanner and the printer, I'd be interested in buying the printer.

Please send me a private message if you're interested.
