Re: Ironbridge- West Midlands gathering 28th March

Thanks for setting this up Ian. Lots of photo-potential in Ironbridge to which I'll also be returning. I suggest this local get together is a good model for members in other areas of the country. Perhaps some of you already do it. Get to know some nearby LFers without too much travel - and maybe bag...

Re: From the smokes

Hello there Trevor. I recall lots of your striking south coastal images in the Roger Maille's Creative Monochrome and if I recall correctly in Photo Art International. Roger even gave me an outing in PAI for which I was very grateful. Welcome in.

I too was influenced by the LAND exhibition.

Re: Ironbridge- West Midlands gathering 28th March

OK, weather Forecast is cloudy but that shouldn't be a problem. So I suggest 9:30am in the Old Station Car Park, which is the Broseley side of the River right on the eastern side of the bridge itself, bearing in mind the clocks go forward so you lose an hours sleep. Ian Thanks for arranging this Ia...

Re: Why are dark cloths red and black

I used to have a two sided one that was very dark blue and white. But it weighed a ton(ne). Now mine's dark green - for camouflage.

Re: LF darkroom enlargement vs scanning

... The traditional wet darkroom prints have a feel and a quality about them because the print is IN the paper (stated elsewhere in this post). Inkjet prints (or whatever you call them) rely on the ink sitting on top of the paper in whatever form. ... Most papers/ink that I've seen do exhibit to so...

I've just remembered a personal howler ... 13 or 14 years ago whilst on my first photo trip to the US it was only the second or third time I'd used a changing bag. I was unloading and reloading about 6 double film holders. Job done I then got my arms out of the bag and went to unzip the bag and ... ...

Issa, Mewslade Bay just to the SSE of Rhossili. It's only uncovered at low tide (for a few hours either side) so check the tide tables. Park at Pitton - there's a (£2) parking area in a farmer's field just to the left of the road into Rhossili - and it's about 1/2 mile walk. Type Pitton into Google ...

Unfortunately, it's not just QL vs DDS, Acros is only available in 4x5 QL and Fuji are stopping importing Astia in 4x5 as well. Yes - my comments were really responding to the RL/QL aspect rather than the film emulsion availability. We must hope that Ilford & Kodak & others don't find sheet film be...

When Tmax Readyloads were discontinued I decided to return to using film holders to be able to continue with Tmax. I've been surprised at how quickly I've got back into using them. Hi all, I've just been tripod window shopping at Park Cameras in Burgess Hill. I must say the Gitzo GT3541XLS is rather tasty, well built, easy to use and all the height you would need. I also tried out the GT3541LS, not as high but I'm tempted by its light weight for hill walking. Has anyone any v...

Phil, I’ve never had any static issues or scratching with Secol which I’ve been using for many years. After my last post I had some other thoughts related to the cost of storage. In a year I probably spend i.r.o. £2000 on trips take pictures – typically one 3 week trip to the US and a total of say a...
