If you still have a 210mm G-Claron in barrel, I have a brand new shutter to fit one. I've discovered that my barrel G-Claron has a rear cell so fogged it's unuseable - and when I bought another one, it arrived without a rear cell. :) So I have two good front cells, a new shutter, and no rear cells. :(

I found it at last - so it's in a padded envelope on my table awaiting an address to send it to. :)

No, but I occasionally use 16x12" - or 30x40cm, to be absolutely correct. My camera is a Soviet copy of a German Reisekamera-type kind of thing, and the only holders which fit are the two I got with the camera. As for lenses there are really only three alternatives: New Schneider Fine-Art XXL lenses...

Let's see... At present I use a 121mm f:8 Super Angulon (doesn't cover 8x10", but just covers 18x24cm), a 165mm f:6.8 Angulon (covers), a 210mm f:6.8 Angulon (covers with lots and lots to spare), 210mm, 240mm, 300mm and 360mm f:5.6 Symmars, 210mm f:9 G-Claron, 240mm f:9 Germinar-W and an ancient 150...

Dark cloth??? I found a black T-shirt from Levi's on a sale a few years ago, and that's perfect. The neck fits snugly around the back of my 5x4" and 7x5" cameras, and I reverse it using the bottom end around larger cameras. No velcro needed, it's elastic. The (short) sleeves flop closed so no light ...

Keith, if you have objects at infinity in your frame and you don't focus within that field of view (ie more than ~200x focal length), then what is at infinity will not be in perfect focus. All this is explained by Merklinger, but be aware that he can be wordy! He effectively disables the all too co...

... I think the difference is that on 'photographic holidays,' it implies that a group of like-minded people gather to take pictures at a range of locations pre-arranged/visited by the organisers and maybe led by one or more tutors, e.g. Joe Cornish, Charlie Waite etc (and maybe pay through the nos...

I've never really understood the difference between a "photographic holiday" and any other kind of holiday? I'll bring a camera anyway - this year I've brought a 8x10" Gandolfi to Northern Norway, a 4x5" Speed Graphic to Italy, and both of the above as well as the 5x7" Gandolfi and the 4x5" Carbon I...

Plain Angulon 90/6.8 is in a #0 - Prontor, Compur and Copal are the same. There were some that were made a smidgeon thinner for the 90/6.8 Angulon, but I believe any Angulon after about 1950 is in a "standard" shutter.

The oldest 90/8 Super Angulons came in Compur #00, later ones in #0.

This was shot with a 90/8 SA. On 7x5".

Image

I don't see the great need for a center filter even on this size, and the fall-off is much less on 5x4"!

I`m not sure if there are any glass plate films made anymore, perhaps someone will know? :?: Ask RetroPhotographic. :) Slavich still makes glass plates, but shipping from Russia is expensive. It's glass, after all! Retro may still have some 9x12cm plates left, but you'll need a format reducing inse...

I use a 180 Symmar (no letters, the convertible kind) on 5x7". No problem at all. The 150mm Symmar is usable too, but only straight on with no movements.

I'm using an old analog Pentax Spotmeter when I feel the need for "Zoning". But most of the time I take an average reading with an even older Leningrad Selenium cell meter (or use "sunny 11-ish"), and develop for standard contrast. Except in the most extreme situations this gives me negatives which ...
