Re: Planning a DIY Film loading tent.
Good plan Joanna, thanks for that, with every post I am forced to refine and reconsider my project. If it works it means the money I save will buy me 75 sheets of slightly dated B&W, a bottle of HC 110 and a few negsleeves, importantly it means that I can actually start going out and shooting all da...

Re: Planning a DIY Film loading tent.
Initially i thought about a black plastic dustbin with the clips on the top to secure the lid. Then I thought about the Dorset recycling boxes which have a firm closure on the lids, they snap shut quite tightly. I could maybe attach a rectangle of black fabric to the lid and have curtains hang down ...

Re: Planning a DIY Film loading tent.
Thanks for the feedback Gari, it's good to know I'm on the right track! I'll put a bit of B&W paper in it and leave the box in the sunshine for an hour or so. I did see those tents Joanna at Calumet and would have bought one without a second thought last year. Now unfortunately I am running on vapou...

Planning a DIY Film loading tent.
Hello folks, I'm planning a homemade changing tent and would like to run my plans by you all. I've got an old 50cm changing bag which is no use with 10 x 8 and only little use with 5 x 4. I'm mulling over using the sleeves and attaching them to a rectangular recycling bin via 2 arm holes, probably o...

Re: Fungus & mold - opinions sought.
Thank you very much for your helpful replies! The 3 lenses, a 50mm, an 80mm and a 150mm all have issues. The 150 is by far the worst as it has the 'cloudy fog' type mould and the 'spreading spidery virus' type we see after a holiday in the tropics (if that makes sense.. ) It seems to be on the...

Re: Fungus & mold - opinions sought.
Good point Matt. It's hard (for me anyway) to imagine mould being toxic enough to eat into lens coating. Apparently the corrosive variety of fungus is quite rare. http://www.mypentax.com/Fungus.html
I wonder if a lens clean would fall into the same price category as a CLA, i.e. around £60?

Fungus & mold - opinions sought.
Hello all, I have been offered a kit that if in perfect condition would be a dream come true for me. Sadly there are blooms of fungus on all of the 3 lenses. I dont know if the fungus is the variety that can eat into the lens coating - lets assume it is- what is the effect on a final print? The dama...

Thanks for the advice and my apologies for veering slightly off topic in terms of specificity. I've been shaped by economical moderators on other forums in the past to 'save vital bandwidth' by not starting a glut of new threads.

Re: Scanning 10x8 on V700. Alignment issues and Newton Rings
My biggest issue is one of sharpness, I am using the supplied holder for 5 x 4 for B & W. I plan to shoot some 10 x 8 in the next fortnight. I've not invested in the better scanning holders because I bought a Wista Rosewood and I'm borderline broke  I was hoping to get away with just buying a ...

Re: Scanning 10x8 on V700. Alignment issues and Newton Rings
Hi Marizu, would you be able to explain the cleaning of the fluid after scanning please? I've been using my 750 for the first time and have not been impressed, fluid mounting might be the answer.

Re: Would Velvia F be a good substitute for Astia F?
I was amazed at how wrong the colours could be in daylight with plain 'normal' settings, I cant believe that I was quite content digitally to manipulate until I was subjectively happy with the result that appeared from the gamut. Film is such an exact and reliable equation, emulsion x kelvin x chemi...

Re: Would Velvia F be a good substitute for Astia F?
Thanks Dave, i didn't fancy having to hedge my bets and buy boxes of both in 10x8... That said I guess I've got a reducing back for a reason and Mr Cad's out of date yet refrigerated stock beckons me
many thanks.

many thanks.

Re: Velvia / Provia topic variation.
I hope this request remains on topic enough? I didn't think it merited a new one since it is Fuji specific :) I wonder if anyone would care to offer an opinion on the relevant merits of Velvia F and Provia for a project I am currently engaged in? My subject matter is medal ribbon bars. I've read thi...

WTB - Long throw cable release.
I've got a Number 5 Universal Shutter that really needs a long throw cable release.
Can anyone help me out please?
Cheers.
