15 x 12 format
Is anyone out there currently using 15 x 12 inch format? What lenses are available; at what cost? Film availability? Film holders? Is it a feasible format with regard to rigidity of set up, weight etc? Any comments welcomed. Dennis.

I believe (only half listening!) I heard on the radio that Polaroid are ceasing making instant film. Is this so? Dennis

Lens choice
My Grandagon 6.8 90mm came from RW & Matt did not suggest a centre filter & have not really found light fall off a problem. 'cause I may not be very discerning . . . I do like the Grandagon 4.5 55mm which just covers 4 x 5 & even allows a little rising front with a bit of juggling. That said I use i...

Shen Hao FCL 810-A 8x10 Field Camera - info anyone?
Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of the Shen Hao FCL 8 x 10 camera? It is the lightweight version with a lot of wood slides rather than metal. Thanks.

Lens choice
Chris,
I think you will be happy with the Grandagon. I have one & it has produced some excellent trannies. FWIIW my lenses are Grandagon 55mm 4.5; ditto 90mm 6.8 & Schneider 150mm. The 55mm works well on a 6 x 12cm RF back. Best wishes, Dennis.

I've found usbnow.co.uk very good - prices reasonable - firewire cables @ £3.99 each & include VAT & post so you pay what you see by credit card or cheque! Dennis

If you are posting film try South West Colour Labs in Paignton, S. Devon. I have used them for years with just one mistake when one of my films was sent to someone else, but recovered OK. Dennis.

For what it's worth I have found the Gitzo 1325 + Gitzo low profile head + Manfrotto hexagonal QR fitting fine with a Toyo 45A; my wife does not complain too much about carrying it anyway. I have fitted walking stick rubber 'feet' over the original hard plastic ends since the latter were wearing & I...

What does anyone else think of the entries in this comp? Although mostly digital, small format & of consequent quality there are some well composed & interesting images. I think . . .

Yep, it's a Combiplan T - does that make a difference? I've definitely had sheets touch in it. Maybe it is just me. Don't let me put anyone off them tho. Dennis

My experience with the Combiplan suggests that if you load it fully some of the negs are almost bound to touch & thus be ruined. Why has no one (?) designed/produced a simple round tank with a spiral to take 4x5 film? Dennis

I gave up on Silverfast & just use the Epson software. I have found Epson v. good for answering my 'novice' queries - very patient! The on-line dialogue is esp useful. I scan at: 35 - 4000; 6x7 1400; 6x12 1100 & 5x4 1000 dpi. These were suggested by a pic agency for using the pics from a disk. Does ...
