Re: Greetings from Holland!
Hi Mohamed, It isn't unusual for wives to question the sanity of their husband. It is common for people to question the sanity of anologue photographers. The sanity of LF photographers is often challenged. Ignore them, have the courage of your convictions and tell them, "The man is not for turning"....

Hi Valerio / David / Steve,
Yes, hope we all have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.
For our 1st Suffolk meet, this coming weekend (Saturday 26th Jan or Sunday 27th), in Ipswich is good for me.

View lens is a View lens?
About a year ago - whilst still fairly new to LF - I purchased a Schneider Kreuznach Super-Angulon 165mm F/8.0 Lens that came with a compur shutter on a Sinar lens board. Whilst it wasn't mentioned in the ad - and I hadn't realised at the time of purchase - it appears that the 'usual format' for thi...

Re: Models for LF portraiture
I knew you'd come up with the goods guys, thanks. Charles, thanks again for sharing your images, I wondered if the less-controlled environment of the dairy milking room made the farmer image a particular challenge - I do like it. Thanks Paul for the short film, very instructive And Andrew, thanks fo...

Models for LF portraiture
Until fairly recently I hadn't really been motivated to do much portraiture. However, several images I have seen over the past 12 months have gradually awakened a better appreciation of the potential rewards of that genre. Most recently, the great portrait from Charles (on a different / recent threa...

Re: National Portrait Gallery
Thanks guys, all great input. I am now questioning my sanity re whether it was a photo or not !!! Now Rob has prompted, yes it was defo Paul Nurse. And I accept the dimensions suggested ie 1.7210mtrs x 2.7210mtrs - it seemed much larger but at least my estimated proportions were consistent-ish. The ...

National Portrait Gallery
I was skipping through the Gallery on friday afternoon and stopped dead in my tracks and gazed for ages at an photo image of a scientist who'd won nobel prize for describing the life-cycle of cells. The style of the image was consistent with that cellular theme. It was a very large image (circa 3mtr...
