Re: Adox film?

They told me in Silverprint that all the Adox CHS ART series had been discontinued because the coating plant had ceased production. There seems to be very little, if any remaining stock. Great shame; I have a couple of boxes left in 4x5 and part finished boxes of 7x 5 and 8 x 10 and when they have g...

Re: The Heathrow gauntlet

My recent (last week) experience at Heathrow (Terminal 5) was pretty positive, (I had a LowePro polar, containing Ebony SW45 with three lenses, film and holders and the usual LF bits and pieces, plus Nikon D300 with several lenses) total weight I guess about 12 Kilo (Tripod was in hold baggage). Howe...

Re: Home Processing

For monochrome 5 x 4 you could also consider a Paterson orbital processor; these have a much smaller footprint than the Jobo rotaries if you are short of space (though you don't have a water bath for temperature control so colour processing is less feasible). They aren't made any more, but crop up u...

Re: Fomapan 100 film

[...] I'm contact printing in palladium. Hi Robin, can you please give me more details on this? Val Hi Val, sorry been out of circulation; hence the delayed response. Basically the same as platinum printing, but using palladium, a somewhat cheaper platinum-group metal . I use the modernized chemist...

Re: Fomapan 100 film

Hi Val, I use Rodinal primarily because I like the way it looks, (and not just with Fomapan 100) but also because it is incredibly economical and seems to last forever (although the contents do go a bit disconcertingly dark after a few months open, not that it seems to affect the results). Acutance ...

Re: Fomapan 100 film

Hi Val, I've used Foma 100 extensively over the last couple of years, in both 4 x 5 and 8 x 10,and like it a lot. I haven't noticed that the emulsion is particularly fragile (at least not compared to Adox CHS which is); however I use a modified Paterson orbital for processing which entails less hand...

Re: Wet mounting

Haynes graphic arts sell a kit with all you need for wet scanning on an Epson V750; http://www.haynes-graphic-arts.co.uk/kami.html ; It may be a bit cheaper to just get the essential components separately rather than the whole kit.
Good luck

Re: Sinar & tripod head

I've used the Manfrotto hexagonal QR plate with my Sinar Norma (with both 4 x 5 and 8 x 10 backs) but I think the monorail clamp design differs from the F, so may not be relevant. It worked OK, but I have to say that the Sinar pan and tilt head is way better.
Best wishes

Re: Lacock Abbey: worth it?

Agree with IanG; plus, if you join the National Trust, it's free. My recollection is that there aren't a huge number of historical images in the main museum. There is a separate exhibition space, the content of which varies. They seem OK about non-commercial photography in the grounds and cloisters;...

Re: WTB: Film Changing Tent for 8x10

John, I have the Calumet changing room. I find unloading 8 x 10 into a Patterson orbital tank is fine (you have to bend the film backwards as you remove it to gain sufficient clearance) but loading it is a bit of a pain, though it can be done. I tend to borrow the darkroom at work for this. For 4 x ...

Can anybody recommend somewhere I could get the Compur shutter on my F8 / 121 Super Angulon serviced? Ideally in the London area.
Thanks
