Steve, it seems OK. But having said that, I have only had time to make two or three prints.
One mono print is very good indeed. I'll have to do some more trials and let you know...
It will depend on whether you're scanning negs or trannies (obviously!)

Hmm - a 5x4 neg or trannie at 2400 dpi is a B I G file! I've not tried 5x4 yet - too busy printing some digital shots for our club's forthcoming portfolio competition. Maybe later...

Hope someone buys your work soon Chong. It's a real buzz when someone values your work isn't it?

Epson V700 scanner - first impressions

My Canon D2400 scanner gave up the ghost earlier this week, so on Wednesday I ordered an Epson V700 from DABS. It arrived yesterday afternoon. First impressions are of good build quality, very good film holders and excellent scan quality. So far, I have only scanned a print and a 6x4.5 B&W neg. The ...

Thanks Carl! The barn shots were some of my first attempts with LF, so they are especially satisfying for me.

I do all my LF work in the darkroom- all monochrome.
That might change of I start doing colour - but I need a scanner that works with LF.

Walker focusing cloth arrived yesterday

My focusing cloth arrived from Mike Walker yesterday. Given that I only sent a cheque to him on Tuesday morning, I think that's excellent service. The cloth is pretty good. It's a lot smaller than the one I've been using and I think it will take some getting used to. But given that it weighs only 13...

Yup! It was lovely. The trick with them is not to overcook them - just 'al dente' is bang on.

I emailed Mike yesterday soon after I posted my note. I had a virtually instant response saying that it he thought it would work, but if it didn't he would refund my money. So I'll order one when I send off for my View Camera subscription. That cloth should be miles better than the horse blanket thi...

Thanks for the heads-up. I had a look at the Walker Camera website. Not only do their cameras look nice, but that focusing cloth looks a bit good. Hopefully, it would work with my Shen-Hao...
