Re: Status of this Web site

Barry,

Marc is still renewing the domain name, and I'm still hosting the site...

I've recently moved it to a newer and faster server. I'm happy to continue hosting it for a while. Feel free to post, and if we can find some suitable people to do "maintenance" then that might help.

Re: Status of this Web site

Sal, In response to your enquires, yes, the forum does seem to have somewhat "died", and the cause was largely one rotten apple spoiling the barrel. A certain member who was openly and relentlessly critical of everything about this forum, (one might say suspicously so), including repeated personal a...

Re: Thread subscriptions

I started another thread on this topic but it's been locked, there's been a few posts/threads deleted recently mainly from others but dissent is banned here :D Must be Jesuit moderators around. Well that's not at all offensive. Oh wait... Interestingly Ian, "dissent" means " to differ in sentiment ...

Re: Landscape Photographer of the Year 2011

an interesting point though - the LF images by me and Tim were both cropped from the original 5x4 to something closer to 35mm, spoiling the look of them. Mine is probably cropped less badly than Tims, but here's the damage if anyone wants to see... So mine loses some important parts of the image in...

Re: The way this Board is run

I have followed this thread carefully, and it is clear that the majority view does not agree with Ian. Despite multiple requests, Ian has not provided us with a vision of how this board can be improved in any significant way. His posts have not been constructive, and I can understand why the modera...

Re: The way this Board is run

You only speak for yourself, however many of us and thats all the newer non Clique members would like to see the site improve, we have no issues with the current admin if they listen. This Ian, I'm afraid, is the fundamental point you seem to either unwilling or incapable of accepting. You speak on...

Landscape Photographer of the Year 2011

Just received my copy of the book. As one might expect, mostly digital, but I always check to see if there's any large format entries... A total of three LF entries made it into the book, and two other film entries from smaller format. Congratulations to members Paul Arthur and Tim Parkin for their ...

Re: The way this Board is run

Otherwise, we are more than happy to accept DJ's generous offer to host us alongside his personal systems. This will, in future, as well as in the past, require the avoidance of image storage on the server. No surprise here. Well, there's slightly more to it than this, so I thought I would share a ...

Re: The way this Board is run

Positive suggestions have been made in threads that have been deleted or heavily edited/censored, and that's what is particularly irratating. There would be absolutely no need to edit, censor or delete a positive constructive suggestion, that makes no sense. If you (or anyone else) has any construc...

Re: The way this Board is run

The Forum software shows a last update date as 2007, that may be that its and old version 2x with some updates rather than being the latest version 3.09. Sorry Ian but I'm afraid you're jumping to conclusions about what version of software the board is running. If you're referring to the list of da...

Re: The way this Board is run

The software itself is 4 years out of date I don't know where this information comes from, but it is incorrect. This forum uses PHPBB, the most commonly used forum software in existence, with about 77% market share. We are using the very latest version, which was released on July 10th 2011. I can't...

Looks like a great get together, sorry I couldn't be there :(

Looking forward to seeing what such a long line of LFers was looking at though! Get processing!
