Re: Myth busting

Ah Charles, it was when things got modern and you didn't have to stand out front with the flash powder and take off the lens cap to expose the sheet. :) Bizarrely enough, you now have me wondering if it is linked with digi compacts where you have to look at the rear screen while you take the shot? :...

There's a short one on the auction site, but I guess you're looking for something longer?

Re: Ebony Wood

I recall several years ago phoning a dealer in Wolverhampton (maybe Warner?) and enquiring about buying a wooden field camera. The helpful(?) assistant advised me that in his opinion all wooden camers should be put in a field and set fire to in a big bonfire due to the expansion/contraction problems...

Re: 120 film wanted

I have maybe 10 or 20 rolls of outdated 120 slide film that you can have for postage if you want. It is mainly Kodak and it has been stored in my film fridge since I got it as part of a bundle some years ago. Not sure I'd want to risk it on a trip to Mongolia, but you could get 1 or 2 processed befo...

Re: Ilford Ultra Large Format film 2012

Many thanks for raising this Charles as I hadn't seen much about it anywhere. I'll need to trust Mike's very attractive price on the half plate as it seems to be almost as cheap as the normal 5x4, whereas it has been scarily expensive in the past. :o

Walker Titan SF on eBay

Don't know if anyone is looking for one of these, but thought I'd mention this as Mike Walker isn't making this camera at present according to his website. I've no connection with this at all. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Walker-Titan-SF45-Large-Format-Camera-/230773022195?pt=UK_Film_Cameras&hash=item3...

Re: WTB - Darkroom Equipment Esp Enlarger for 6x6

The other thing to try if you haven't done it yet is a search on eBay by "nearest first" to your home postcode. This can be really useful for an awkward thing like an enlarger which many people just won't post, plus there are inevitably quite a few bits and pieces for a pick-up deal. Good hunting! :...

Re: Still dreaming of 5x4

For example, which models would comfortably work with 90mm to 210mm lenses? Do any of their models allow you to stretch just that little further in each direction to a 72mm and 250mm lens? However much I Google, I never really find straight answers :? Have you tried contacting Robert White? They gi...

Re: Walker Titan XL 5x4

You do know that it's made of plastic I hope? Vanman I do indeed know that it's made of plastic, but I've played with the Harmann pinhole camera which is also made by Mike Walker and was impressed with it's strength and rigidity. I'm not in the market for this, though, or else I'd have kept quiet a...

Re: WTB: Nikkor 450 f/9

I actually bought one of these from the US (Fred from the View Camera store) only for it to arrive - well when I say it arrived, the packaging did but no lens. Someone at Parcel Force opened the package and pinched the contents. I could be waiting 3 months until I get my money back (and Fred has to...

Sorry to hear this as I always found MXV an honest bunch to deal with and had bought an item from Penumbra a year or so ago.
