Re: RIP

I haven't been on-site for a month and whilst I have noticed activity tailing off significantly in the last 12 months I was surprised by this thread. I wasn't aware of the unpleasant event to which you refer. Whilst disappointed, I'm not too surprised though ..... I was the recipient of unwarranted ...

Re: Meeting in Ipswich?

Hi Valerio,
Would be good to meet up sometime, perhaps blow the froth off a cappuccino first whilst planning an outing?

Re: Hello from deepest, darkest Essex...

Hi Paul,
As a Lancashire man living in Ipswich and working in Insurance industry (currently in City), we may have something in common.
If you fancy hooking up sometime, give me a nudge.

Re: Moved to Ipswich

Hi Valerio,
Ipswich calling.
Despite living in Ipswich for some years, I haven't made many images in Ipswich itself.
That probably needs to change.
If you fancy hooking up sometime, give me a nudge.

Re: LF lust!

I nearly did - bit my tongue just in time. So tempting whilst it's in your hands. But apart from one of the focal length combos, my current set of sharp lenses covers the same. I'm currently more interested in soft focus lenses but have taken the strategic decision to resist 'format creep' to 10x8. ...

Re: LF lust!

Coincidentally, I paid Robert White a visit last Friday for the first time and took the opportunity to inspect this lens combo. It looks in great as-new condition. And a lovely piece of precision engineering. At £2,400 + VAT, I was told that is circa the 'new' price of the main set in a shutter. You...

Re: Investing in a new Cooke PS945?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for yesterday - enjoyed the natter and opportunity to try your PS945 and HM120.
I'll probably decide whether to buy this week. And I'll pop round to check out your Iceland images in Sept / Occt and bring mine re yesterday.

Investing in a new Cooke PS945?

I am considering buying a new ps945.
But before I part with my hard earned cash, I'd like to canvass other LF'ers opinions.
If you had a, more or less, complete set of lenses and then won the lottery, would you buy this lens?
Maybe there are some alternatives?

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations

Hi John, The Schneider 165mm Super Angulon f8 IC 395mm @f22 so plenty of excess coverage. But of course there's a trade-off : - Weight 3.5lbs (1.6kgs) - there's one on fleabay now for just over £1,000 (was £1,223.39) - filter size 110mm Co-incidentally, I have one of these beasts and was thinking of...

Re: Recommendation for shutter service needed!

Had the serviced Compur shutter from Camserve since the beginning of this month.
Great service, very friendly and accommodating - highly recommended.
£55 + VAT well spent.

Controlling the end-to-end process

I recently purchased a Jobo CPE2 processor and I’m keen to start turning out my own work. But rather than rush in and mess up the first batch of negs (colour and B&W, 4x5 and 6x17) and slides (4x5 and 6x17) due to an avoidable mistake (materials, technique or process), I’d like to : - gather any ‘ro...

Re: Recommendation for shutter service needed!

Thank you guys.
I contacted Camserve in East Sussex due to the relative proximity to East London.
I plan to drop off the lens this coming Sat morning for pickup the following weekend.

Re: Recommendation for shutter service needed!

Does anybody recognise the make of shutter in the attached? The shutter needs servicing and depending on the make I may need a niche / specialist shutterman? Cheers. All good stuff guys thanks a lot.
However, in retrospect, I can't help feeling that I'm even more stupid than I thought.
Tim pinned it down early - cheers Tim.
But the other contributions / refinements also appreciated.

Macro on 4x5

For larger than life size, is reversal of one lens on another a practical solution? I guess there are risks / limits around adding significant extra weight around the lens coupling and lensboard areas. Was considering rodi s 210 + reversed (relatively lightweight) rodi s 135 combo. Maybe others have...
