I bought a 1000 box of the Kenro 4x5 bags quite a few years back - should keep me going for a while... http://www.kenro.co.uk/product/NEGATIVEBAGS_Group/6/neg/Negative+Bags.html It's possible to write details on the outside using a marker pen and I keep them in a standard storage card filing cabinet...

Mike, I guess it's all down to how anal you are about storage conditions for the film. I've never bothered about specifically chilling any film and never noticed any problem for my uses - YMMV. If it's 12/08 it's relatively young for film in my experience and by summer it'll only be approx 8 months ...

Emmanuel, Unfortunately, my image you saw previously is one that doesn't exhibit the illusion - it only looks a bit like it due to the arches at the edges. This is a very quick scan of the picture I meant with the illusion - a bit more obvious, I think  I've also wondered how much the position...

Despite the fact that the 45SU is the best camera ever made  You mean it's the best set of features and compromises for what you want out if it  Personally, I think it's OK for what it is but I'd rather have my P2 for setting up - it just has downsides in portability... Shock / horror, ...

Emmanuel, Charles et al., Looking through a Sinar camera system book, I came across the following couple of paragraphs: " Deliberate under-correction When we look at pictures taken from a very high or very low viewpoint we tend to compensate visually for converging verticals. For instance, we can wi...

Hello Paul, I won't take that personally... Hello Tim, Nice to see you taking part on this one as you have much to contribute. I'll grant you the ease of use thing, but the money you save is a lot more. Prices new are almost at a ratio of 1:3 and if you consider the ready availability of sec...

Paul, Thanks for your comments - my image above isn't that complicated to set up (but don't tell the rest or they'll think anyone can do it! ) It's a case of getting everything squared up on the ground glass using your eyes and spirit levels - making sure you're in the middle of the scene so ...

Re: are asymmetric movements actually relevant, after all ?
As for front vs back tilt, for the amount of tilt I usually use (about 1-3 degrees) the effect on the landscape is almost impossible to see, hence I think I've only used front tilt in about 5% of pictures - can anybody point out which of my pictures have distortion in them? Hi Tim, You'd be hard pu...

Re: strange look for the chursch in Montmartre !
I have in mind the "ice-cream-cone" effect of tall rectangulaire buildings taken with an ultra wide angle view camera lens, for which the verticals are perfectly parallel because the photographer has _strictly_ respected the above mentioned rules of projection, but the visual impression, an illusio...

As you and Paul mentioned, it's seen as 'anyone can do it.' They've got their P&S compact and a computer & printer at home so how hard can it be? I'd wager a lot of "Joe Public" photography now is only to prove to their mates that they were at a party / grab shots of no artistic value etc. A lot wil...
