Hi Joanna

I had a similar problem when trying to send a PM last weekend - just a blank screen and no sign in the sentbox that it had actually been sent. It turned out I'd sent the message four times!

Hi Keith

I've tried sending a couple of PMs, but there seems to be a problem with them at the moment as they never show as 'sent' - what sort of price did you have in mind for the camera?

Hi Nat

Welcome aboard. I'm also a fan of Chris Killip's work and was lucky enough to have bought In Flagrante for less than a tenner when it came out in the 80s!

Hi Bob I'd urge you to take up the challenge - it's certainly an experience. The most memorable part for me was lugging the gear up a steep hill and being completely out of breath at the top... and that was only the camera, flash, light meter and 135mm lens. Having a total of ten shots certainly foc...

Hi Bob

Love the black and white Orbital shots - and I personally think the idea for the project is great.

I thought it was interesting that he kept saying he wanted to capture an image that defined Bristol, yet the night picture, as good as I thought it was, could have been taken in any major city in Britain.

In Roger Hicks' book 'Medium and Large Format Photography' there's a DIY section at the back, and he suggests a Russian/Soviet Zodiak 30mm lens, designed for 6x6cm, but gives a circular fisheye effect on 5x4. The biggest issue though is that the metal lens shade lugs have to be ground or sawn off as...

OK, so I didn't have much to do that day... but at least my three year old daughter thinks it's funny!

Chris Killip's Pirelli Work

I recently got a copy of Pirelli Work and find it a fascinating book - even more so as it was shot on hand-held 5x4. Has anyone else seen it? A couple of the pictures are featured in the Phaidon 55 book on Killip. At the back of my mind I really have to question his approach to the subject, using a ...

Thanks for the advice - I based my times on Shanghai 5x4 developed in Rodinal 1+50 (on the Massive Dev Chart) and the negs look great.

Hi Sandeha - I'd be interested to know what dev times and dilution do you recommend for Rodinal?

Cheers

Chinese film

After reading a post by Buze I ordered 50 sheets of Shanghai 100asa film via Ebay, for less than £15 including postage. It arrived today, just over a week after ordering it. I'm planning on using it for experimentation and improving my technique - has anyone else used it. I've got quite a lot of X-t...

Without going into specifics about the particular models, I've found that the 150mm lens is the one I seem to use least on my MPP.

The ones that get most use are my 90mm super angulon and 180 Symmar - I just find the 180 a slightly more satisfying focal length than the 150 for some reason.

I've never been very satisfied with the service from Retro - on one occasion his attitude was bordering on rudeness. Add to that the variable quality of some of the Eastern European films and I've resolved to stick with Kodak and Ilford from now on.
