Hi
I think there have been 2 or 3 on this forum this year. I try not to watch the auction site - too many temptations...
I may well sell my folder (HZX45? certainly looks like one) in about a month.
I've got another camera coming, but I can't make my mind up!

Re: Thinking of jumping into LF
Hi Based on my experience as an LF newbie, i would support the suggestion to start with a secondhand / cheaper camera. I have a S/H shen hao folder that has all the movements i need, plus some. This + a 150mm lens was < £400. I can see the temptation to get it right first time, but using the shen ha...

Re: Hello from Bristol.
Hi Paul Welcome to the forum. It's good to see someone else from Bristol. Perhaps there may be enough interest to organise a Westcountry meet... If you are thinking of darkroom work, then the St Pauls community centre darkroom has 3 LF enlargers. The devere 507 is set up to go. Chris Waller (who run...

Re: Fogging
Hi I think this must be a (small) light leak in the camera. Have you tried 'exposing' a film in a darkslide (within the camera) for 30s without opening the shutter? From your fill / drain times it sounds like you are using a combiplan. I have not had any problems with the combiplan, but deliberately...

Re: Testing 8x10 vs IQ180
Hi Tim Apologies for continuing the physics approach... After looking at Norman Koren's website, I'd tend to agree - it may be impossible to compare MTF fully. The film manufacturers don't give MTF beyond 50% (which determines sharpness). Limiting resolution is around 2 - 5% MTF usually. However, th...

Re: Testing 8x10 vs IQ180
Hi I think you are always going to run into trouble if you ascribe a megapixel equivalence to film. (you can work out an equivalence in appearance - which is what people are after I suppose) In principal film is not nyquist limited, because of the random distibution of the silver grains (i.e. no moi...

WTS Epson R2400 - very little use - Bristol
For sale : Epson R2400 printer I've used this very little - some of the inks are the originals. Maybe half a pack of A4 paper used overall. Epson ink only. As you can see, the yellow is gone and the light cyan and light magenta need replacing also. It has sat for a while, so count on it needing a co...

5x4 enlarger in a nova tent?
Hi I'm not sure my cunning plan to set up a darkroom is going to happen in a hurry. Is it possible to squeeze a 5x4 enlarger into a nova darkroom tent - and have room for a 13 stone person to breathe / not fall into the dev / knock everything over? :) Any suggestions for the enlarger with the smalle...

Re: Another try at LF
Hi That's nice. What speed are you rating the fomapan at? It looks like you've lost the shadow detail of the trees - but that could be the scan, or my 10 year old CRT monitor! I've been thinking about trying fomapan 100 as it is so much cheaper than FP4. It has a reputation for being contrasty, so I...

Re: WTB Fuji lenses
Robert White can still get at least some of the Fujinon lenses. I emailed them this week asking about the 125 5.6 CM-W (I've since found a used earlier W version). Ebony can get them on RWs behalf. However, unless you want to pay a high shipping cost, delivery would have to wait until the next consi...

Re: "Light Field" camera
From a brief reading it looks like this technology may be similar to tomosynthesis that is being introduced in X-ray imaging. Utter conjecture, but it makes sense to me. The X-ray systems take a series of images at slightly different angles. From this you can reconstruct a 'slab' that is in focus an...

Or a 120 super symmar HM would be nice...
Maybe I'm being a bit hopeful, but it would fit so nicely between my Rodenstock 90 and Fuji 180
Both of which are 67mm filter thread, like the above.
The only ones I have seen have been in US or Japan.
Thanks
Ian
