c41 processing marks
Hi I've been having issues with marks on c41 negatives for some time and I wondered if anyone has thoughts on the most likely cause(s). I've developed hundreds of 5x4 sheets in my jobo cpe2 over the years but for about two years now I've had seemingly random marks or stains on the negs. When I first...

Yes more like slide film regarding getting your exposure right. But as long as you don't overexpose I've had no issues with highlights burning out.

Re: dynamic range of ektar and portra 160 - test results
Hi Dave Yes I'd still use -2 with Ektar also for the absolutely darkest area of the image I wanted to preserve detail. Not sure what you mean regarding +8. Typically I've always over exposed colour negs (such as Pro160, Portra) by a stop or sometimes 2 stops as I like how over exposure mutes the col...

dynamic range of ektar and portra 160 - test results
I thought I'd share the link to these film tests I did last year if anyone is interested - taken on 35mm film but applies to 5x4 just as well. Quite handy for understanding what kind of latitude you have to work with and the kind of colour changes you can encounter. I find most Kodak films seem to g...

SOLD: Linhof Technikardan 45s - £870
Hi I'm looking to sell my Linhof Technikardan 45s - simply because I do not use it much as I tend to always use my Walker Titan XL as I'm addicted to wide angle. It is a superb camera, very flexible, light weight and portable, can handle 47mm to over 400mm lenses. It's in excellent good condition, i...

Re: Canoscan 9000F film scanner
Hi. I have a 9000F flatbed which I used to scan a batch of medium format holiday snaps. Overall I was reasonably impressed with the quality and the speed is great. Scans required a large amount of sharpening as they were very soft - but this is very similar to the Epsons. I recently acquired an Imac...

Re: c41/e6 processing
I had issues which appeared to be caused by the pre-wash not being the same temperature as the dev (and we're not talking hugely out). These days I get the pre-wash as close as poss temperature wise and pre-wash for 4 or 5 mins so the temp stays consistent from pre-wash to dev and all is well.

Re: Drum Scanning - any hints before I start ?
Hi David I've never used a ScanView before but in answer to the query on oil I would suggest Kami SXL2001 which you can get from Haynes Graphic Arts: http://www.haynes-graphic-arts.co.uk/ They also sell Mylar Overlay, drum cleaner, kami tape, film cleaner etc. I remember once considering buying a Sc...
