Focusing loupe

I hope to receive my Maxwell focusing screen with camera around the middle of next month and, to complement it, wondered which focusing loupe to get – to be used for internal low-light wide-angle architectural work (probably 75mm f4.5 Grandagon-N with centre filter at most). What are the most import...

Recommended 4x5 Film holders?

Badgers have recommended Toyo film holders to me.
Any advice will be warmly welcomed.

Re: Maxwell Ultra Bright Focussing screen

Thank-you everybody for your contributions and patience. For those of you who may be interested, last night I was lucky enough to be offered a sub-12mth near-new demo U2 for a very good price (not a lot different to a sv45te). It seemed silly to turn down such an offer. But as has been mentioned, I ...

Yes, I agree it hurts. I hadn't noticed the correlation between full tax payments and US sources

Re: Maxwell Ultra Bright Focussing screen

How do the assymetric focussing lines help?
Please note that this is my first View Camera so I'm on a steep learning curve.
Cheers

Re: Kit Storage at home and portability on foot

Anybody investigated the technical backpacks by US-based photobackpacker?
It seems to have a satisfied and loyal customer base due to the products being :
- tailorable
- configurable
- effective and efficient
These features appear to enable you to carry more kit more comfortably for longer.

Re: Maxwell Ultra Bright Focussing screen

Ah ok Joanna, I'll sort that. I'm just ordering screens now but unsure which one of the 3 versions to go for : - Standard brightness (H-L brilliant matte) - mid-brightness (H-L brilliant matte plus) - brightest (H-L ultra brilliant matte) I guess there is a risk of the Ultra causing difficulties on ...

Re: Maxwell Ultra Bright Focussing screen

An additional issue has just rung my bell.
If I arrange for Badgers to send the Ebony to Maxwell's in Atlanta, won't the documentation seen by our nice UK Import officals (from Maxwells) refer only to the value-added by Maxwell?

Re: Cityscapes : you can't photograph here without authorisation

Thanks for these clarifications. It strikes me that, when challenged, it is important to be courteous and, armed with the above-mentioned intentions of parliament, confident / firm about your position. I agree that some of the peripheral risks mentioned above also need to be managed to deny some of ...

Maxwell Ultra Bright Focussing screen

For ease of use, I'm thinking of investing in a Maxwell Ultra bright focussing screen for my Ebony. Does anybody have any insights and/or experience of using these screens? I'll probably use lenses ranging from 72mm - 90mm at the widest up to about 300mm, maybe 450mm. Do these screens need to be ins...

Cityscapes : you can't photograph here without authorisation

I was wondering how much each of us had suffered from restrictions on freedom to take photographs by private security and / or police. I have been told to stop twice in London : - In the square of Aviva Insurance HO (EC2) with nice views onto the Gherkin, Lloyds Insurance and the new Willis building...
