WTB Zeiss 21cm/4.5 Tessar in shutter

If anyone has one to sell or comes across one, I am looking for a Zeiss 21cm f/4.5 Tessar mounted in a shutter (probably a compound). If it has some matching Proxars and Distars, that would be extra yummy! I want it to complete a restoration, but a good useable (preferably pre-war) example is needed...

Re: Hi from NW London

Hi Chaim and welcome to the forum. Unlike most folks here I do use a depth of field chart, but one which can be used after any adjustments (movements) have been done. Here is a link to a more refined one that I use, which is also by Linhof. http://www.linhof.de/download/depth-of-field-chart.pdf Basi...

Re: First Wet-plates

Hi Neil,
It was an 8x10 camera with a reducing mask in the plate holder to go down to 6.5x8.5. From memory the lens was about 12", so it is only slightly long for the format. The same camera and lens was used for both shots.

Re: First Wet-plates

Thank you George. It could be flare, yes. It wasn't my camera and so didn't have a lens hood!! I think one reason why LF doesn't phaze me too much is because even in smaller formats I much prefer to use a tripod: even in 35mm I use a table-top one. But tackling wet-plate was such a smooth process wi...

Re: Hello from London

Hi Valerio and welcome to the forum. As you will find for yourself the Kardan Color is a super bit of kit, and very underated. I also have one, and find it almost as good as the Technika in 5x4. They are certainly cheaper and give most of the benefits of a monorail but with a quick and easy set-up. ...

First Wet-plates

Here are a couple of images from the wet-plate workshop run by Carl at the Clocktower. I set the camera up, poured and developed the plates, but one of the others did the honours with the lens-cap for my "self portrait". http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n556/KateandSusie/frith001.jpg The second s...

Re: Hi from Ugley

Hi Andrew,

Well I know one young man (Alex) who wants to use it for an 8x20 collodion tintype! Now that would be something!

Hi from Ugley

Hi Everyone, Just posting here to introduce myself to you all. My name is Susie, and I have been messing about with large format cameras for some time: I hate to admit it but I bought my first 5x4 Linhof nearly thirty years ago! At one time I collected old plate cameras and still have some that I us...
