Nice shot. We ate one just like that last night. With a little bit of cheese sauce it made a lovely accompaniment to some red mullet fillets :P

Yes, I'm pretty pleased. I think I may need to print at grade 4 to get a satisfactory print. I'm going to stick with two-bath for the time being and see how I get on with it. I have one 'properly' exposed shot that prints really nicely. It's a real pain when we make basic exposure errors. DX coding ...

Quick update

Well, after much mulling over the various options that were available to me, I decided to have a go at developing my negs using Barry Thronton's two bath developer. The first set were done in a weak (7g/l) Sodium Metaborate bath B. These negs were flat but printable. The second set were done using a...

Paul O is right. I think it's worthwhile doing your own developing. It would be very worthwhile getting a copy of Ansel Adams' book 'The Negative', which explains the zone system and what the meaning of N+, N and N- development are. In a nutshell, you use exposure to control shadow values and exposu...

Thanks Dennis - at least I think the negatives might be salvageable. I might have a bash at developing them this weekend...

Guy,

some very interesting images. I do like the Clevedon pier image. It has a lovely tonal range.
The Holga pics are quite fun and disturbing. Good stuff!

All the best

Thanks Chong. I've been mulling this over as I've been watching the telly. My normal development for HP5 plus is 12 minutes at 24 degrees C (Perceptol 1+2). I reckon 7-8 minutes will be a good starting point. I still can't believe that I made the same mistake on all of my negs! I blame the clocks ch...

Stupid, stupid, stupid b*st*rd

I've just got back in from an afternoon's shooting. Great light, hardly any wind. Three and a half hours and eight sheets of film. When I got home, as I was making myself a sandwich and a cup of tea I started thinking about my shots and had an awful sinking feeling. I remember metering off shadows a...

Dear Joanna and Andrew

some lovely work from both of you.
It looks like the baths are an excellent venue.
Tell me, are these the baths that were on the BBC Restoration programme a while back? They look awfully familiar.

Cheers

One thing that I've just thought about is whether it's possible to pre-flash transparency film the same way that you do B&W negative if you want to get more detail in the shadows?

Anyone tried this or is it just a dumb thing to do?

Nice shot Jools. I like the movement of the water.
I do wonder whether it's a touch dark, but then this might be my laptop screen.

Cheers

Hi Marc, I like the different textures and you've done well to capture a nice range of tones, particularly in the shadows. Sadly, it doesn't really float my boat. The thing is, IMHO, the composition doesn't really work. I'm not really sure that the square format really works. I'm curious as to why y...
