Another welcome to the forum Nigel, it seems you've just found out that LF is not the isolated community some people think it is.

Re: new member from manchester
Welcome to the forum Muzamil and to the world of LF!
I'm sure others will have suggestions for a first camera but my suggestion would be to go for a Speed Graphic or MPP. Rugged, modestly priced and camera's that can easily be sold on when you feel like upgrading.

Re: QuickDisc
I tried this out last year but found I had problems using it in the field on my own. I think you really need someone to hold the scale for you. :( I know what you mean... was shooting some leaves in a beck a few weeks ago where the disc would have just floated away... ended up taking a visual refer...

Four excellent images Paul, I particularly like the first one at Wayland's Smithy, Velvia has certainly added a nice blue tint to the mist.

QuickDisc
During our get together on the Ridgeway at the weekend we discussed the use of the QuickDisc as an aid to calculating exposure compensation for bellows extension whilst taking close ups.

Re: Ridgeway outing?
Just a quick thank you to all those that turned up to a cold foggy Ridgeway yesterday. We had a pretty good turnout with Paul Dunning, John Rhodes, Sean Lewis, Glenn Haworth, Richard P, Evan (aka banana legs), TimH and even a brief appearance from Jenny M! An excellent day was had by all and we even...

Another heads up for the 240 G Claron, mine is very sharp, light, still fairly bright at f9 and can be picked up at quite reasonable prices.
