Re: Kodak to stop producing colour transparency film
Seems like it was only yesterday I'd shelved my QL loader and moved back to using my cut sheet holders. I sincerely hope the remaining transparencies stay alive. Another hook was the mention of the E-6 chemicals that at least Kodak will continue to make at this point in time. Are there any other sou...

Re: WHERE TO buy cheapest film from USA/Uk
Right there in New York is the largest photo outlet in USA as far as I know. That's B&H of course. Typically their prices are best around unless you find a sale going on at another vendor or even eBay. I cannot help out with any shipping or import fess to be dealt with. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c...

Re: Fuzzy focusing
I never use a dark-cloth until the last fine tuning of the focus. I adjust as much as possible with the lens wide open for composition and basic focus with no hood. Then I stop things down & work the GG with the loupe and dark-cloth in place. If I do get fogging at that point I usually will throw th...

Re: Scanners info
I've been using a Microtek i900 since it first came on the market years back now. It has performed extremely well and this is my second Microtek product in 20 years of 35-120-4x5 transparency scanning. The latest version is the Microtek ArtixScan M1 Pro. One item I've always liked about the Microtek...

Re: 240mm lens advice, please
I've used a Wista DXIII Cherrywood Camera for years now with a variety of lenses under 300mm without any issues that I've ever detected. I'm presently using a Schneider APO-Symmar 5.6 / 210 with a Copal #1 shutter quite a lot and again find it works just fine. :D These specs maybe of help. 45 DX III...

Re: Mistakes we've made...
Paul, mistakes made in the field can be very frustrating especially if there was an outlay of big dollars to get to a locale and then we fail to capture images properly. I think we all have left the lens open here and there expecting to trip the shutter at just the right time, only to have no cable ...

Re: Velvia 50 vs Velvia 100 vs Velvia 100F
Valerio, I've been a very long time user of V-50 over the years in 35mm-6x7cm-4x5. I was totally lost when Fuji dropped V-50 years back now and I tested the alternatives of V-100, V-100F, Provia, & Astia. Using quicklaods at that time made it very easy to shoot one of each in a short period of time ...

Re: A question on focussing
About two years ago I noticed I was struggling to focus on the ground-glass more so then ever before. I'd bought a variety of loupes over time trying to resolve the issue without much luck. I have been wearing glasses for about 20 years now for an astigmatism. I'd also been having issues working lon...

Re: Cataloguing and storage
Tony, as stated already you will no doubt hear about a variety of ways to process and store your images overall. I was lucky to have started out with a procedure with my 35mm images, carried over to my 6x7cm, and finally to my 4x5 images. The main thing to do is start before it becomes too cumbersom...

Re: Buying Film Abroad
Tim, good to see your recent post with regard to film purchases through Badger here in the states. It was not too long ago I was struggling to find any outlets with Velvia 50 in 4x5 size here locally beyond some older 10 sheet boxes off eBay USA. However, although many vendors here are still not up ...

Re: Latest LF film updates ?
I finally received an email back from Fuji USA yesterday. That was after I'd also sent an email to Fuji Japan. This does not exactly address the issue we face right this minute in the USA with vendors not stocking or very little of it, but at least we know it's truly available...... :D Thank you for...

Re: Schneider 120mm Apo lens
I've seen a couple used recently in the $900 to $1200 range. I bought mine used a couple years back now and did not pay anywhere that amount as I recall. Usually my limit has been no more then $600 on used lenses over the years. I will say it's an excellent lens and I use it a lot. Good luck with th...

Re: Latest LF film updates ?
Thank you for the updates here. I was aware of the Fuji 20 sheet per box item taking place some time ago, however, here in the states the amount of LF film in any quantity or type is dismal IMO. B&H who is no doubt the largest vendor in the states does not even have a decent supply these days. They ...

Latest LF film updates ?
Happy New Year to all. Does anyone have any recent updates to share with regard to Fuji's seemingly lengthy roll-out and transition away from Quickloads overall? Looking at many of the top vendors in the USA these days shows little or nothing in stock of LF transparency sheets at all..... :?: Additi...
