Second batch of shots off the Ebony

Well finally managed to scan the decent shots from my second batch of stuff on the Ebony. This time shot some Velvia 50 and some Portra 160nc Bit disappointed this time, as everything has come out dark especially the Velvia. I was metering with my Sekonic 358 that I've only ever used in the studio a...

Re: First Shots off the Ebony

Cheers for the positive comments so far everyone. Charlie that's pretty much how it came scanned on the imacon. took a little cyan, blue and green out of the midtones but that's not uncommon for fuji film I found. Saturation was set to 15 which I think is standard in flexcolor, it's been a while. som...

First Shots off the Ebony

Hey peeps, below are my fav three shots from my first box of 4x5 film - Fuji 160s. Still working the camera out really, was sure I'd cropped more of the sky out on the field shot. Also the focus isn't quite 100% bob-on as I haven't picked up a lupe yet  Colors may also be a bit off as I've had ...

Re: Why?

You can also try scanning your b&w neg as a color pos/neg. This can, depending on the scanner/software, pull out a bit more detail but it varies. I used to do it on the Nikon Coolscan and you'd get a slightly green b&w image with a bit more in the shadows and highlights than a straight b&w scan. On ...

WTB: 150mm Lens (pref with Linhof Board)

Looking to buy a fairly recent 150mm lens. Any brand will do but would quite like a Nikon or Fuji. Linhof board would be a bonus, happy to pay extra for it.

Looking to spend MAX £250 on the lens as its a prezzie off the missus :D

Cheers

Supplying exposed sheets to the lab

Hi folks got another newbie question for you. Finally got a camera sorted, an Ebony SW45, and have lens/DDS/Film all coming for my first venture out this week. I've decided that as Fuji have killed quickloads i'm going to start off and stick to using normal sheets with DDS's. What I'm wondering is, ...

Canon 5D with BG-E4

Not large format so feel free to delete this thread. For sale is my Canon 5D with BG-E4 bat/vertical grip, 2 batteries, box, cables etc. I now have a mk2 so the mk1 is surplus to requirements really. I bought it not long before the mk2 came out so its about two/three years old. The camera has some m...

Re: Cards

I've not used any online services but C3 is usually decent for short runs of cards. You'll have to do the layout and all the CMYK conversion yourself and send them a PDF. You want to look for a printer that uses an INDIGO or HEIDELBERG digital press not a XEROX or CANON which are just glorified colo...

Re: 4x5 Camera suggestions for LF newbie

I looked at the Shen Hao and was just worried about the build quality after reading threads on other forums. Had a quick chat though with John (!?!) at Robert White and he seemed to think they would be a decent intro. I guess if they are selling them they can't be that bad. Problem i've got Jenny is...

Re: 4x5 Camera suggestions for LF newbie

Cheers for the info folks. Thats interesting about the construction of the bed. I thought it was a solid carbon filled plastic, but reading the website it sounds more akin to snowboard construction with the high pressure bonding of composite over a wood core. Well the price is definitely making it t...

Re: 4x5 Camera suggestions for LF newbie

Cheers guys, how did you find Chamonix to deal with? i'm guessing you bought direct as I cant find a dealer in the UK!. What was the cost of the camera with the bellows, shipping and import? What lenses are you all using? Schneider? Rodenstock? Fuji? Nikon? I've seen a Nikon 75mm f4 on fleebay for a...

Re: 4x5 Camera suggestions for LF newbie

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I looked at the Technikardan on Linhofs site, but have to admit it seems like a bit of a beast to carry. I'll give it some thought. Paul, how do you find your Chamonix? is it solid? what sort of lenses do you use with it? any things that annoy you about it? I'm no...
