That's a great image. Methinks I'm going to have to play a bit with gigapan. Just as long as you do not expect this to be faster that setting up and shooting on LF :) For some really inspirational stuff, have a look at the XRez Yosemite project: http://www.xrez.com/gallery/yosemite/xRez_yose.html T...

I apologise that it was recorded on Silicon , but I am actually quite pleased with the result...

Phil,

Welcome. You'll soon regret looking in here... :)

I'm up in Dundee about 3-4 times a year, as I have some close friends up there... I'll drop you a line the next time I'm coming up... There may be a chance for a morning out shooting...?

Issa, Paul has pretty much given the best advice available..... Get some cheap film and try :) That is pretty hard to beat. You'll probably kill a few sheets, but hey, they're not horrendously expensive, especially if you develop yourself. Alternatively, it may be possible to go out for a day with s...

I'd tend to agree with Paul. I think the classic uses the old 90mm design but with a new glass and the new coatings....

Normally my suggestion would be to forget about minks and their oil and get a metal camera. However, given that this would get me stoned and beaten to death with old calumet camera cases, I think I better not make this suggestion... Ooops! How do you delete a post  Help! Sorry Jo, i...

Bill, I use a Nikkor M 300/f9 on my Wista SP which is absolutely fine for landscapes. The lens is bitingly sharp and I have managed to focus down to about 10m or so, if I recall correctly, with a standard lensboard. Those lenses are not overly expensive and come up on auction quite regularly.... If ...

Rob, The C&G course is a really nice course, as long as you have a decent teacher, even if some of the technical content is a bit over the top (Anybody know what a "G-Bar" is? That was one of my exam questions.) However as a motivation to go out and shoot, that course was brilliant! The SC was my fi...

Just my 0.02 EUR here: I usually carry a Manfrotto 055CL with a 410 head (aparently a typical combination...) I replaced the centre column with a short column for weight saving initially, but now have out a self levelling column on for convenience. Either of those combinations worked really well for...
