Re: Fomapan 100 film
Valerio, I use tap water as a stop bath but as I lived in London for a short time in the 80's and found out just how bad the water was I would use de-ionised water. I get mine from a vehicle accessory shop in a 25 litre container at a very reasonable price. If you must use stop baths I personally mi...

Re: Fomapan 100 film
Valerio, Fomapan is in my opinion a fantastic film. I prefer the 200 as it's a bit more flexable in our climate (it might be making a return later this year).. You need to be careful with the film, especially when it's wet. I wear vinyl or similar gloves (even when I'm loading the film into film hol...

Re: The way this Board is run
On the German site the stuff's about a pound a sheet, I won't pay that let alone what Harmon are likly to charge. I'll stick to Foma for the time being. Thanks anyway Charles. Andrew, I drive a Transit for my sins, I can find it in the dark as it usually smells of rancid Lurcher (better than the hai...

Hi Charles,
Are you cutting film to half plate size or have you a secret source of half plate film. I've got the holders but no film, I prefer 5x7 but half plate at the right price would be nice.

Re: The way this Board is run
Ian, They have to work a lot of hours to buy the latest Ebony model that does nothing more than my 1927 Ansco or your pre war Agfa Ansco, not to mention the latest Schneider products. You must realise that these things are deemed to be necessary to produce good negatives to scan. Time to reply to ot...

Re: The way this Board is run
I'm writing in reply to Charles initially. Charles, I agree with virtually everything that Ian has said, even though you seem to assume that he is the only poster with the opinions that he expresses. A photographic forum where the posters can't post images has got to be a bit of a joke in the 21st c...

Re: Air bulb suggestions
Hi Andrew,
I suggest that you pay a bit more for your Packards (and Dallmeyers). Mine work really well. There really isn't a lot in them to go wrong, just a quick clean and they're as good as new ones (and probably made to a better standard).

Re: Air bulb suggestions
As I said earlier, look for the Wickes product I found it to be better than the original (but ancient) Packard original. I have also used the bulb that primes an outboard engine from the fuel tank. As far as I can remember I had to mess around making an adaptor to use the smaller bore hose for the s...

Re: The possibilities for creating new forums on here
I really believe that Andrew is right. I would not like any of my threads removed or edited by a moderator. I have never heard of this happening on any other photography forum (except for posts on religion or politics where such posts are banned) and my wife posts on craft forums and has no experien...

Re: Boxes for lenses
All the plastic boxes that I store my lenses in came either from supermarkets or Staples. I use three different sizes of lens panels so I need a variety of boxes.

Re: Air bulb suggestions
Hi Charles,
If you visit your local branch of Wickes and head for the plumbing department you might find an "additive injector" pack. It has a rubber bulb, a length of tubing and some bits that are only of any use to plumbers. It works on a Packard.

Re: FS: Wet/Dry plate cameras
I would like to endorse Amdrew as a reputable seller. I've bought one camera and a couple of wonderful old lenses from him in the past and the service and packaging have been superb. I've met him as well and found him to be very informative about the stuff that he occasionally sells.

Changing the subject slightly are you the same Charles Twist who claimed that you "and a handful of others" set up this forum because "there was no real online communal force for large-format camera users"? If this is a misquote are you going to demand an apology from AmateurPhotographer? If not has...
