Re: The Most Important Photographer of the Late 20th Century
I work just 200 yards from the Whitechapel Gallery - I feel a visit coming on! I don't think photography is generally viewed as art. Especially since the proliferation of cheap digital cameras where everydody and their dog now thinks they are a photographer and whats the point in professional photog...

Re: South Gare Lighthouse
I like the strong lines in the shot and the way the eye is drawn the the end of the wall where the lighthouse makes a nice stopper. Not sure that the shot needs so much foreground though. The pattern on the wall adds to the shot and the notice half way along gives added interest. Overall the whole t...

A second for PEAKImaging. Used them for all my processing going back to my 35mm days.

Re: Cataloguing and storage
Hi Tony, I bet you'll get a different answer for everyone who replies. For me there are three parts to the answer; 1. Storage of exposed film. For me these go into Clearfile inserts in ring binders. I keep everything, even the poor stuff but then I am not prolific. I started shooting LF in 2002 and ...

Re: Next official get-together: April16 & 17
Ok, here is a quick scan from one of my favourites from what was a great weekend. Will probably crop off the white cloud at the top when I come to print it. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5227/5690835959_7249a8103a_o.jpg (Ebony 45SU with Fuji Velvia 100 Quickload, 150mm lens with rear asymmetric til...

A late thanks from me too. Disappointed not to have been around for the group photo though.
Think I'll have a fistful of images to show at the next one.

Re: Use of Lightroom 3 with scans
Not quite the same but; I scan from an Epson 2450 using Vuescan into PS CS3. I don't do any sharpening until I come to printing. I sharpen by creating a layer mask with Find edges and effectively deleting the areas I don't want sharpening, which is usually the skies as any grain will show up more th...

Re: Ultra Large Format & Focus On Imaging
I'll second what Tim says. Its always a worthwhile day out. I have bought on recent years my Manfrotto Carbon tripod on a VAT-free deal, my Pentax digi Spotmeter on a VAT-free deal, good deals on the 410 head and the Silvestri 6x Lupe. Looking out to see if anyone is doing an unmissable deal on a 3...

Yes Charles. Definately interested. Seems such a long time since the North Wales meet.
I shall await further details eagerly.

Re: Lists
Phew!
If I have to got through a list like that then, as well as having to consider the movement of clouds, sun, moon, wind etc while setting up the camera and shot, should I also be factoring in tectonic shift!?!?!?!?!

Re: Presentation of LF at Bolton Camera Club
Good one Joanna. We had a spare evening at our camera club last year and so I volunteered to talk about LF. I thought just 15-20 mins to give our members just a taster. I was quite surprised by the interest in LF since everyone in camera club land has embraced digital to the almost total exclusion o...
