Re: Direct Positive duplicating film

Hello from France A few years ago, MACO in Germany marketed under the brand "Rollei Slide Direct" the same kind of film you are speaking about, and it was available in 5x4" as well as 120 rolls. The film was said by MACO to be cut from master-rolls of Agfa Aerial direct-positive B&W duplicating film...

Re: Tripod Head question for 10x8

Dave The problem is actually that nobody can reasonably screw a large and heavy camerea on a fixed screw, or a screw which can be rotated only by rotating the ball in the ballhead .. Believe me or not, but I've seen students attaching a 5x4" Sinar norma by rotating/screwing the WHOLE camera on top o...

Re: Tripod Head question for 10x8

Hello from across the Channel! In the good old days, Gitzo pan-tilt heads or 3-way heads were named 'rationnelle', probably because French consider themselves as the grand-grandsons of René Descartes, the inventor of cartesian coordinates, the most rational means to find where you are in space ... ;...

Re: PHOTOKINA 2012, a report with images

The only extravagant rollfilm back on display at the photokina was the 6x24 from Shen Hao ... no double-side 6x9 rollfim back so far. I take the opportunity that true British readers (dubbed with true believers in LF photography) are here to ask if "glass cabinet" and "exhibition stand" sound correc...

PHOTOKINA 2012, a report with images

A report from my visit to the PHOTOKINA in Cologne on Sep. 23-24 2012. FUJI still makes film cameras (but with a film surface smaller than 100 sqcm, hence forbidden here) A nice fuji LF lens "museum"; not clear whether this is a museum or a display of available products ... SCHNEIDER-Kreuznach Vario...

Re: Portable flash with 5x4

Hello from France I have various flash units besides a Metz 45. I have an old METZ 32 mounted on a G15 battery holder ; this makes a more compact "hammerhead" style of flash, fixed metric guide number = 32 @100 iso. The G15 battery holder for 4 x LR-14 / C-size (IEC RC14S) batteries, pushes the powe...

Re: Isle of Mull

Hello from France ! I visited Mull in July, exactly 20 years ago, and I have in mind two good stories that I'd like to share with the group. The first story is related to midges, the best kept secret of Scotland when you never go camping or walking in the wilderness. Atfer having hard times with mid...

A video about a LF/ULF meeting, Luynes, FR, June 9-10 2012

Hello from France. I had forgotten to place here an annoucement (my apologies) for this friendly meeting that took place last week-end (June 9-10, 2012) in Luynes, France in the Loire Valley. The meeting was organised by François Croizet and a video of the event was made by Jean Desmaison. I'm sure ...
