Re: FS: Gitzo G1570 Low Profile Head - £99
Hullo Phil
I'll take it if available please.
Can I ask, how smoothly does it work, I know some have found these quite stiff/jerky in use?
Does it have both the 1/4 and 3/8 thumbscrews?
Please let me know.
Many thanks-John

Re: Razzle 110b
That's right, the Razzle is easy to handhold, and is great for snap portraits with it's accurate rangefinder (parallex corrected down to 3-4 feet). And when you do want to maximise dof and use longer exposures, it's a great advantage needing only a relatively lightweight tripod/head combination. I g...

Re: Fungus & mold - opinions sought.
Where are the 'fungus blooms' exactly, and what do they look like? Does it consist of spreading spores on the front or inner lens surfaces, or within the elements? Or single white dots? Usually it is fungus attacking the glass, but I believe some types are said to feed off older between-lens cement....

I have heard back from Mark, things are sorted, they got what they needed. Indeed, it was for this week, but also next as well.

Need borrow tripod for Wet Collodion Workshop at V&A
This is a thread posted by a Mr Mark Osterman under the Gear section over at the Large Format Forum, if anyone is interested/and/or able to help. Re: WTB - Tripod fro Pentax 6x7
Matthew I have the same camera, and my advice is to get the heaviest tripod and sturdiest head you can live with for it. You will end up taking many shots at slow shutter speeds below 1/60, when mirror bounce and shutter vibration can reduce sharpness, unless tethered to a heavy head/tripod combinat...

Re: How best to use spot meter in lf colour landscape
Thankyou Tim and Charles for the expanded clarifications, I will now need merely a couple of months of brain workout to digest it all! Coming back to the original poster's questions re colour exposure hints at sunrise and sunsets, the former usually has subtle lighting with a not extended brightness...

Re: How best to use spot meter in lf colour landscape
I found Jack Dykinga's description of spot metering on an average value for LF colour landscapes to be very clear and helpful in his book 'Large Format Nature Photography'. Worth a read. The above posts from our LF practitioners are really helpful too, to someone like me who grew too reliant on the ...
