Re: WTB: Apo Sironar S 180mm
Ffordes have an Apo Sironar N ... which I realise is not precisely what you are looking for. They also have an Apo Symmar ... which happens to be one I have listed with Ffordes. Thanks David - I appreciate the heads up. I'm holding out for the S, though, as I want it for 5x7 and the coverage of the...

WTB: Apo Sironar S 180mm
The used 180mm Apo Sironar S on the Teamwork Digital website is a mirage, sadly, so I thought I'd check if anyone here had one in decent shape that they might consider parting with. Please drop me a line if you do.
Kind regards
David.

Re: Velvia 50 5x7 - Special Order
You can buy the similarly sized 13x18cm Provia film from MACO, then you could trim that to size instead. 10 sheets of Provia 13x18cm are €45.16 plus shipping. http://macodirect.de/fuji-provia-sheet-filmbr13-sheets-p-1780.html Thanks for that link - very useful. Fortunately I have both 13x18 and 5x7...

Re: Damaged 190mm lens - any hope?
It's bizarre how differently people pack LF gear. I had a 150mm SS HM from KEH that was damaged in transit thanks to their poor packing - but on the other hand, a 5x7 Arca from Germany arrived in the largest cardboard box I have ever seen, with a cornocopia of packing beads and about a mile of bubbl...

I would very much recommend the Camberwell LF course: http://www.camberwell.arts.ac.uk/shortcourses/56874.htm. It isn't cheap, but it is worth it.

Re: I believe the phrase rhymes with "clucking bell"
Hmmm, not exactly fine verse, but try this. Before you take out that slide Check the light meter has not lied Set the f stop And shutter too Close the lens Cock anew Slide out gently and look a lot The scene's still good? Then take the shot Replace the slide the other way Should you bracket it today...

WTB Arca Swiss 171 board copal 1 or swap for copal 0
If anyone has an old style 171mm Arca Swiss lens board for sale, I'd be interested, or alternatively I'd be happy to swap for either a flat or a recessed Copal 0 board - I have one of each spare.
Thanks.
David.

Re: Interest check - Symmar 360 f5.6 in Compur electronic
I never wear Satin, not even on Sundays... You are indeed right Dave - the FS5 comes with a control box. I have two of them. Why there are two is completely beyond me, but that is what I have, together with a considerable spaghetti dinner of wiring. Happy to talk cash rather than a swap if th...

SOLD - Symmar 360 f5.6 in Compur electronic
I recently bought an old Arca Swiss 5x7, which came with a monster of a lens, a Schneider Symmar 360mm f5.6. This beauty has an image circle of 500mm, and hence covers 11x14 - lots of movement on 10x8: see http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/vintage_lens_data/large_format_lenses/symmar/data/5,6-360m...

Re: Tripod for Arca Swiss that you can fly with...
Thanks to everyone for their comments. I ended up getting a Gitzo GT3531S, which is carbon fibre, and I am very impressed with it. It does not have a centre column, but it does have a handy hook at the base of the platform that I can hang a bag from to stabilise it in wind. It's really light, folds ...

Tripod for Arca Swiss that you can fly with...
I have an old style Arca Swiss which is currently sitting on a Gitzo 1410 tripod with an Arca head. The tripod is wonderfully stable and all I could wish for. But it's also heavy, and the Gitzo does not fold particularly small. This wasn't a problem in the past, but now airlines have started chargin...

Re: Scanning Help
Just as a sequel to this, I did indeed spend a day playing with Silverfast, and came to the conclusion that DJ is right - it is a masterpiece of bad interface design, but you can get great scans _if_ you know what you are doing. I'm still getting strange results with it sometimes, perhaps because th...

Re: Anyone fancy Iceland in June 2010?
Hi Paul
That is a great suggestion: I would definitely be interested if you need one more. Ever since I saw Dan Holdsworth's pictures of Iceland, I've been wanting to take a camera there. http://www.kultureflash.net/archive/23/priview.html
David.
