Re: WTB 5x7 DDS

Hello Charles You had better luck than I finding colour, I had seen some E100G but it wouldn't be a prefered choice and I remember seeing Badger were out of Porta so had assumed it was all gone. Should I be feeling flush some when I'll be considering getting some from B&H so thank you for that link....

Re: LF vs APS-C

You don't think the colour difference might just be down to Provia being balanced for daylight ? Which will not have been anything close to the light temperature in that shot at a guess to which your digital will have done an auto white balance adjustment. To make that fair at least you would need t...

Re: WTB 5x7 DDS

As you are presumably shooting BW (you mention Adox) I would just get 13x18 holders based on the following logic. 1 they are way cheaper than 5x7 on the used market and 2. ag-photographic at least stock several BW films in 13x8. Different situation if you want to shoot anything colour. I don't know ...

The binocular viewer is most likely going to be more compact and wiegh less than a da...

Re: First LF camera Sinar f2 bought need accesories

Well I'm going to disagree with some of Thingy's advice and point out that he is confused about the Binocular Magnifier. Sinar make two viewing aids a Binocular Magnifier and a Binocular reflex Viewer. The Binocular Magnifier will make your life much easier and you will not need to buy a dark cloth ...

Re: Which Large Format to buy/usage/advice

I'm not a user of the Zone System myself but the recommendation for that light meter was for a very specific reason as I do believe in doing spot metering properly. As I believe Muzamil has said he has purchased a F2 it should come with a metering back, have a look at John D esq's page on the variou...

Re: Heads up to Howtek 4500 owners

Hi Rod I'd be tempted just to trash the disk and set it all up again with Tiger as you presumably have the licensing info for Silverfast ? anything else you would need can be found easilly enough. Mac OSX is just a subset of unix there is always a way to hack the passwords if you have local access, ...

Re: Recomendation for a 90mm lens

A Schneider Kreuznach Super Angulon F8 will likely be the cheapest option simply because by in large they seem to be the most available.. The F8 will be dimmer than the F5.6 and have smaller coverage but is entirely adequate for 5x4 Slightly scruffy one on ebay for 245 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schn...

Re: Heads up to Howtek 4500 owners

Hi Rod It's not essentail but if you ever need to perform the optical alignment procedure it makes life easier. The service manual can be found in the files section of the scan Hi-end group. I did not like silverfast either and went with Aztek's DPL which I see is at $500 at the moment. If the dirty...

Heads up to Howtek 4500 owners

:? Guessing this is probably still the best place to post this. While wondering about ebay I noticed the following Howtek 4500 Optical Alignment Tool for drum scanner http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330651757176 Not interested myself as 1; I've brought quite a lot of toys recently and 2; if you are cunnin...

Re: Which Large Format to buy/usage/advice

No one can tell you exactly what to buy as we are not you , but if you want some reasonable suggestions With your budget a Sinar F1 is a sensible choice it can fold up over the rail and fit into a backpack should you ever wish to do that and will have more movements than the majority of wooden field...

Re: LF camera wanted sinar p2?

The Sinar cameras might appear more complicated than some because of the great variety of options for them, but once you get your head around the way their modular system works I'm sure you will be able to sort out what will work for you. Some more links for you which will hopefully help in understa...

Re: LF camera wanted sinar p2?

Hello Muzamil I would if I were you spend a bit of time researching the Sinar cameras before rushing into a purchase. Dave Tolcher started a topic with some links to some usefull information on Sinar cameras and others I have added a few more links to Sinar information you will probably find usefull...

Re: Locations close to London

Hi Valerio I just turned up with it , they might tend to ask if you are a Commercial photograper which would require permissions but any kind of equipment is fine as an amuteur. You do need permits for tripod use in the glass houses and they might not allow that for LF use as the sheer size could ca...
