Re: Which Sheet film for colour negatives ?

I've mostly been using Portra the last few months, as Tim says seems easier to balance on the scan and looks sharper. Personally prefer the NC version, find it a little colder, which I like, than the VC, but happy to use either. If you dont mind sending me that review as well Andrew to craig @ my-us...

Re: 400 speed colour

You can get Portra 400nc from Calumet as well. There is usually a box or 2 in the fridge at the one here in Liverpool.
Agree with Tristan there, its a decent film, grain isn't to bad considering.

Not had an easy life either, more often than not been doing about 200 midres scans a day, 5 days a week. T...

Re: Why film

It would be interesting to find out the youngest person here who willingly goes for film and large format. I'm 52. Well I'm 30, but think I can still count as old school!! I got into photography at the age of 15 so had a good few years of shooting film (35mm) before I ventured into using DSLR...

Re: Colour management - is my lightbox letting the side down

Dave your being far to anal about it all  How do you want the final result to look? as it does on the lightbox? held up against the monitor? held up against the window? Thats the most important thing!! If you want it to look as it does on the table, just tweak it in the scanner software. Worry ...

Re: One of the perrenial questions of LF: which backpack?

Well if i got round to picking up a spot attachment for the sekonic, the 5d would be out! lol I just use it to meter the scene really. If i only carried it with a 50mm on there would be enough space for another LF lens in front of it. !!! I dunno how I managed it Dave lol, it just all came together....

Re: One of the perrenial questions of LF: which backpack?

Hey Gavin here is a pic of my mini trekker with what I usualy take out.
Image

I just take the 10 shots so I don't go to mental and blow loads of film

I reckon with some fiddling could probably squeeze another lens in.
