Re: One of the perrenial questions of LF: which backpack?

I have the original version of the Mini Trekker, but the AW is basically the same.. I'll send post a pic tonight of everything in it, I usually only carry 5 DD's though! I Also have the Lowepro Vertex 200 which is a bit bigger. Thats quite good, and the tripod mounting is much better than the Mini T...

Re: Flying with tripod in hand luggage?

Doubt you have a chance of getting it through as carry on! I have a few friends who skateboard and they now have to put their decks in their hold luggage when they go abroad as they never get them through security. Even though they have them attached to a backpack with strapping and protection for t...

Re: Wading shoes?

I've not found anything that works on slime covered rock really, I think you'd even struggle with crampons, just getting the purchase on the rock! I'd second FiveTens though as really grippy shoes (I have the CampFours) They grip amazingly well on clean wet rock, only ever not worked on Ice, slime c...

Re: Would Velvia F be a good substitute for Astia F?

Sorry ha... I could be wrong though, I was told that in Calumet  Japan exposures do have it in both QL and normal sheet, it's called Fuji pro 160 NC over there, so maybe its just killed from europe/states. A quick look on Yodobashi's site and its still listed... appears to be discounted and onl...

Re: Would Velvia F be a good substitute for Astia F?

From using it back in the day  Pro 160c isn't really a Velvia in neg form! Its a version of 160s with more contrast, color reproduction is much the same . Maybe bit more punch due to the higher contrast but I always found it pretty negligible! It is a nice film though if you want a contrasty lo...

Re: Emulsions for Architectural Work

I'd personally go for fuji 160s and have the extra latitude of the neg, color balance with artificial light is pretty decent. If your doing a dusk/night set and want the artificial light to be color balanced go for fuji 64T, does a good job with flouros as well Though for an alternative, if you can ...

I like the sound of the Adox pan25, with the PET base reminds me of good old techpan.

Might pick so up next week :D

FS: Nikkor-w 180mm f5.6 in Copal 1 w/ Linhof board

I've got for sale a lovely Nikkor-w 180mm f5.6 in Copal 1 fitted to an actual Linhof board. I bought this looking to do some portraits on my sw45 but turns out the camera doesn't quite have enough bellows draw to get as close as I'd like so looking to sell to get a 150mm Bought it from ebay on Tuesd...

Re: Who do you use to insure your camera equipment?

Well i'm with E&L, been with them for a few years now and have their professional cover, but the amateur cover looks decent. You have to describe and supply serials for anything over a certain amount but you don't have extra added to you premiums for those costly items! I've currently got a claim go...

Re: Cityscapes : you can't photograph here without authorisation

I find usually if you make the effort to ask the security beforehand and tell them what you want to shoot they are pretty accommodating. I imagine its not so easy in London but I find here in the Northwest most security are pretty friendly and bored most of the time. I've managed to gain access to r...
