Re: Dry mounting
Dry mounting doesn't work for RC prints - the emulsion bubbles & can be peeled off. Possibilities for 'expression' perhaps. Dennis.

Re: Wilderness 5x7 Camera.
Keith, This was on ebay some time ago - Chinese ad - I tried to find out more on the 10x8 version, but had no luck. They existed - photos to prove, but no one would admit having seen/bought/used. I like the look of them, but the 10x8 is quite heavy. Dennis PS This too is a Chinese ad presumably sinc...

Re: Photographing Buildings.
Keith, I wrote the bit below before reading Charles offering, which I agree with. If it is primarily buildings you want to photograph I think I would go for one of the lighter 4x5 monorail cameras such as Sinar F1 & its later variants, all much the same except (I believe) for the plastics in the lat...

Keith,
Have a look at my flikr pics on <http://www.flickr.com/photos/toyosnapper/> to see what the lenses are capable of for buildings & some other things. Dennis.

Re: Photographing Buildings.
Keith,
I have found the Rodenstock 55mm & 90mm lenses very good + a 150mm which is useful. The 55 just covers 5x4 with a little movement possible (Toyo 45AII) although I used it mostly with a 6x12 RFB. Dennis

Re: Dry mounting
Tim,
My prints will be of the 'wet' variety so dry mounting as such will not be a problem. I was just hoping I could get an idea of the best domestic iron setting to use. I'll just have to experiment. Thanks for replies. Dennis.

Re: Dry mounting
They specify all prints must be mounted on a 20x16 mount regardless of print size; which suggest a plain mount to me. Dennis.

Dry mounting
Have the urge to enter for an exhibition which requires pics to be mounted. It about fifty years since I last dry mounted a photo (the ones I did then are still OK!) & I did it with a domestic iron, but cannot remember the details. Does anyone know what setting would be appropriate & if mounting tis...

Re: Vat on imported books? Latest info.
Final, final update. Have actually received repayment of VAT & handling charge! Still out of pocket of course from postage & photo copying, but unsure how to pursue, or even if I can be bothered. Really niggling tho' to not receive an apology from the Border Agency for their mistake. Dennis. Final u...

Paul,
Silly question, but how do you pay for items from Germany? i.e. phone & credit card, send Euros, whatever? Thanks Dennis.

Re: Hoppe's Portraits
Susie, Thanks for the elucidation. It seems he had some interesting ideas, & I agree he probably owed his good fortune in part at least on the fact that his portraits were flattering for the subjects. If I tried that trick with my enlarger the whole thing would shake I fear. It is surprising the amo...

Re: Hoppe's Portraits
Susie,
Your post looks a bit lonely - I too have a copy of the Hoppe book, freebie tho - I agree it has some very good photos, but why are so many so soft? Was it deliberate or as a result of the equipment he was using? Sharp lenses were available to him surely? Dennis.

Re: Carrying lenses
Charles,
That looks like a good method, but I am a bit wary of Velcro, the hard bits tend to break off in time & I am dubious about what they might do to the interior of a LF lens? Dennis.

Update on 'Vat on imported books'.
This is by way of a 1st update. Sent all the required info to HMRC as address on customs form. Then had an email asking me to download a form to be sent to Border Agency along with all the forms stuck to the front of the mailing envelope along with the receipt from the US supplier. Sent all this (ph...
