Keith, I have an f6.8 90mm Grandagon and an f8 Super Angulon, both are superb lenses although I prefer the Grandagon which is now on my 6x17 camera, but then I've been using the lense for about 20 years. You will notice a huge increase in useability and quality with either over an f6.8 Angulon. Whil...

Tim's right I buy almost all of my film for Germany, its cheaper than the associated UK supplier and postage & packaging is less too. The VAT is paid at source so there's no added charges. But regardless of the extra VAT, and the import duty, buying from the US is easy and it's a bit like cherry pic...

Vanman, I think the misquote was a board glitch. You didn't just pay VAT you also paid import duty, 5% and then 17% VAT and I argued like hell with Customs & Excise when I bought my first 10x8 Agfa Ansco about the tax being added to the postage. You were lucky though when I bought my second 10x8 cam...

Tim, it might surprise you if you knew the truth about many UK labs. My local lab was set up about 25 years ago, processes everything except Kodachrome, and still does - or so it appears. Reality is very different, E-6 is now farmed out to a lab in Birmingham, Black & White to another, the market ha...

Greek workshop
There's a workshop being organised in Greece in September, the location and exact date is yet to be finalised.
While it won't specifically be a large format workshop in practice virtually all those attending shoot lf.
Once the arrangements are finalised I'll post the details.

Yes, I can see an MPP and 89mm Wray lens with a coned board for sale elsewhere. It makes sense to use a coned board. On my Speed/Crown Graphics the lens sits on the end of the inner rail focused at infinity, with the front bed dropped its not practical for close focus. MPP's (later models) were a gr...

I use 3 different 90mm lenses for 5x4 on a variety of cameras and none need a recessed lens board. The closest to an MPP are my Speed & Crown Graphics, and standard lens boards are fine. Should add that an f8 Fujinon is smaller than my f5.6 Super Angulon, or f6.8 Grandagon, and the shutter will defi...

Another endorsement for Black on White
On the basis of SteveH and Charles Twist's post here I sent my 165mm Super Angulon to Black on White as the shutter was sticking. I posted it Monday, 2 days later (Wednesday) I got a call at mid-day to say it had been stripped down cleaned, reassembled, it arrived back today (Thursday) and is now wo...
