Re: Newby requests help
Hi Ian I shall be at Farfield Mill near Sedbergh tomorrow (Saturday) with my 5 x 4 kit set up as part of Heritage Day. I've just taken up residence in one of the studios there, so there'll be some of my work to see too. I'd be happy to give you a personal guided tour of the camera in action (actuall...

wts Epson R2400 printer £30
Well used A3+ printer. Working but the print head is more or less worn out as it leaves a mark on the print. May be suitable for spares or diy repair. Comes complete with a Fotospeed ink flow system and various part-used bottles of ink. It also has an OctoInkjet waste ink kit consisting of tubes and...

Re: Photographer's class
Hello Charles - an interesting task, but don't think it was only 'gentlemen' photographers. I picked up this on the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/norfolk/7657741.stm about a Norfolk photographer who was given a camera as a gift from her sister and they have recently found a collecti...

Re: Lists
I'm with Jo on this. Before going out decide on the type of photography you fancy. Woodland? go for a walk in your local woods; water? stroll along the local stream etc. and photograph whatever appeals to you. You've no excuse in Northumberland! I've set off up Hareshaw Linn heaps of times and only ...

Re: Uneven processing
Hi Dennis I'm not an expert by any means, but I've not had a problem with patchy development with the Combi Plan tank. However I did watch an experienced professional using one before I took the plunge, which helped enormously. Firstly I discovered that you have to fill the tank up - I had thought t...

Re: Dartmoor this Saturday anyone?
Sorry Paul....wrong Moor! I shall be on Exmoor for the next week or so. Hoping to find signs of spring in the woods around Watersmeet for a start. I'll pm you my mobile number in case you change moors, but reception around Lynton is pretty appalling.

Re: general use
I have a Zeiss Ikon Nettar which I use from time to time. It takes 6x6cm negs and gives some great results. Minimal settings, so none of this 1/3rd stop exposure calculation stuff! They come up quite often in second-hand shops and are usually around £15-£35, so cheaper than Holgas etc.

I've been using the Calumet Changing Room in a campervan for 18 months now......perfect! If they made bigger versions it could double up as a shower-room!

Re: Who do you use to insure your camera equipment?
I use Glover and Howe and have had really good service from them, both for amateur and professional cover. I did go with Photoguard for a time, but found them more expensive and less friendly. G&H paid out as a goodwill gesture when one of my cameras fell to bits through old age as I'd been with the...

Re: Focus On Imaging Exhibition, NEC 7-10 March
Hi Jo I don't really agree that there is nothing for LF or film photographers. I found it very useful for getting a feel for things like backpacks, tripods and heads, printing papers etc - stuff that you might want to try before buying. I've also picked up a good deal on a 70-200 Canon lens - useful...

Re: Focus On Imaging Exhibition, NEC 7-10 March
Hi Rod Focus is a good show but there's lots of it! I've been several times and learned early on to make a list of things you specifically want to check out / stands you want to look at - it's easy to get side-tracked. Also it pays to have specific questions in mind when approaching stands otherwise...

Hi Paul, I don't know the answer to your question but I have had the same experience when scanning black and white negs. There must be someone clever enough to explain this!
