Re: Identify a random camera component.
On the back of the frame there's a 5" square rim that sticks out which has a continous groove around the side, like you say this will be where it attaches to whatever camera - i think it likely to be the removeable/rotatable back part of a camera than necessarily an adaptor. I've also clocked that b...

Identify a random camera component.
Recently bought a rollfilm back that came attached to this oddment. I can only guess its the back part of some type of metal field camera. Possibly a Toyo, Wista, Horseman etc? Its got graflock tabs and the felt padding you get where the ground glass frame rests. Its got no obvious makers mark or id...

Re: Velvia 50 Discontinuation rumours
So Fuji UK stopping importing it, rather than Fuji discontinuing it then? If it came to that you'd still be able to order it from japan/europe/elsewhere then. Not quite the end of the world. Could be a great time to stock up on out of date stuff from fuji UK!

Re: Manfrotto 410 Geared Head
What quick release have you got fitted? If its the RC2 type (actually its porbably the same on the RC$ type) then there's a small allen-key bolt under the main latch, I would imagine that taking this off removes the main latch and should give you access to the brass pin. You might have to replace a ...

yep, the only accurate colour reference would be to walk around your scene with a colour meter taking readings. not even your memory of the scene is an accurate respresentation. colour perception isn't a fixed thing, so I would say unless your colour casts look out of place then don't worry about it...

can you really rule out thing like slight magenta casts being down to the storage/age of the film prior to exposure? I know all reputable retailers supposedly refrigerate their film, and we all do at home, but you can't guarantee what the film has been subjected to in transit from japan, or whatever...

Re: film handling
you could try calling the lab you intend to use to see if they will send any spare boxes they may have lurking around. this is exactly what I did with Peak - they sent me one in the post (especially nice since they could quite reasonably have told me to sod off and drive the 10 minutes from my hous...

Flock velvet? My existing wista one doesn't even have this. I must admit if I'd known i could get the front of my camera to look like the wallpaper in a 1980s curryhouse I'd have gladly shelled out that 20 quid! I see I could get a 00 board direct from china for 15 notes, but given than involves pla...

UK source of lensboards
Just a quick one: does anyone know of a reasonably cheap UK source of standard technika/wista type lensboards? Can be a non-brand for all I care, I don't especially need all the little Linhof cutouts and indents. I know I could get a brand new one for £20+vat+p&p from rob white, but being a yorkshir...

WTB - el cheapo 6x12cm back
hi guys and gals I'm looking at the possibilty of throwing together a bargain basement credit-crunch 6x12 setup, and to save the cost and faff of using 4x5" sheet film with a 2x5" split darkslide I'm looking for a poverty 6x12 back to throw on a old crown graphic. Obviously to keep this cheap enough...
