Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations
Thanks Charles. Another lens that has flown under my radar! Maybe it is because of the supposedly (see below) image circle. I found a post on LFPF (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=33981) that gave the following head-to-head : Nikkor 120/8 SW vs.Fujinon 120/8 SW The nikk...

Re: WTB: 8x10 Field Camera, WA Lens, Board, Tripod, Holders
Many thanks for the pointer Peter B. Definitely worth sending as I hadn't found that on my web travels. It does look like he's in the US and on balance there seem to be too many downsides (for me as a newbie anyway!): e.g. no standard lens board size, very old and bulky, paying for the 4x5 back that...

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations
Thanks for the recommendation AbsolutelyN. Don't know how I missed that one. I have now edited the previous post to add it to my list. I've just looked up the 120 and 121 Super Angulons and their coverage seems to be only 288mm which is probably cutting it a bit fine. Are you using the Nikkor on 8x1...

Re: WTB: 8x10 Field Camera, WA Lens, Board, Tripod, Holders
Many thanks for the reply Peter. I've really set my sights on a field camera because I'll be using it outdoors and will need it to break down into a rucksack for transportation. The Super Angulon is definitely on my radar as it seems to give great coverage at reasonable prices. My only concern apart...

10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations
Starting to build an 8x10 system and am looking for a wide angle lens which can cover (or almost cover 10x8), is manageable (in terms of weight & expense), and for which the front filter thread is vaguely standard. So far my research has turned up this list of possible candidates. Any ones I have mi...

Re: Hello from Essex and London
LOL - In the past year I've downsized from two cars to no cars, so I think I'd better hit the gym as it's going to be brute force and public transport until I get seduced by the dark side again and get another car! Though I do like that mental image of that photographically adorned Morgan! Pure retr...

Re: WTB: 8x10 Field Camera, WA Lens, Board, Tripod, Holders
Many thanks for the top-tip John. Goodness knows how I missed that, I've been doing "8x10" eBay searches for weeks.
What a beautiful camera!! It seems almost too nice to go out and take photos with! Too rich for me, but a wonderful one-stop-shop with lots included for someone with £4k to spare.

Re: Hello from Essex and London
Thanks for the warm welcome Paul.
LOL - I think you're right. I got the sports car mid-life crisis over with early. Now that I'm 10 years older (and a lot poorer) I'm hoping that even an 8x10 will be cheaper to run! Hopefully more environmentally friendly too...
Cheers, John

Okay, spot the newbie!
Having been lurking on various forums and being an 8x10 sponge over the past couple of months, the time has come to pull the trigger and kit myself out from scratch.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Hello from Essex and London
Hello LF Peeps, Greetings from darkest Essex (Ingatestone) and London. (A bit 2-centred while the London house is being sold). Mid-life crisis manifesting itself - not in the need to buy sports cars and get my ears pierced - but in the strange desire to get into 8x10 photography! Think this will be ...
