Re: Inexpensive chemicals for B&W - where to buy?

Just buy a few bottles of Rodinal. If you're developing in an Orbital you've got to use more than the minimum quantity just to be able to measure the Rodinal properly, even with a syringe! Oh, and the Rodinal will last for a very, very long time, even when it has been opened. :)

Re: Planning a DIY Film loading tent.

I'm finding it hard to picture the recycling box here. If it is anything like the one we have for paper and cans, the lid certainly won't be light-tight. and you'll maybe need a dark coloured poly sack over it. The other thing that springs to mind is that it's going to get sweaty in there fairly fas...

Re: WTB: Film Changing Tent for 8x10

I'm not sure how much help I can be on this, but I have used the Calumet one in Joanna's link to unload a 5x7 filmholder into a Paterson Orbital, so I'd think you might get away with loading an 8x10 carefully. I've also got a Fuji Darkbox like the one at the expired ebay link below, and it has subst...

Might depend on your plans for tomorrow! If you can make it into London, who knows what you might be lucky enough to find?

Re: WTB: 8x10 Field Camera, WA Lens, Board, Tripod, Holders

Apologies for cross-posting, but I've just seen this camera on APUG. The seller doesn't make it clear whether this is a US only sale or not, but I thought it worthwhile bringing it to your attention. I have a wholeplate version of this style of camera and they aren't the smallest or lightest to carr...

Re: 2011 Ilford ULF run

The prices are now available for this film run and it looks like halfplate is a winner @ £39.95 compared to quarterplate @ £73.92

Re: Ebay categories

It's either a sign of the times or else a special Brigadoon moment for Easter, but if you go to Film Cameras you'll find that one of the related searches below the main heading is Large Format and there are currently 212 entries! :o

2011 Ilford ULF run

This year's ULF film production window is now open for those wanting that special size not normally available. The full list of film and dealers is at the link below, but the good/bad news is that there are no prices displayed on the list, so you'll need to wait for that. Hopefully the increase on l...

Re: 5x7 film

Dennis I'm only starting out on 5x7 and have chosen Shanghai film via ebay as the cheap way to learn. I've only shot a few sheets and am getting the impression it might be a bit picky on exposure and development, but here's a shot to give an idea of the detail and grain in D-76. It was £12.80 + £6 d...

Re: Case advice

As Dave said, these food containers are cheap and light. I've got the Tesco Klip fresh foodsaver rectangular 1.1L (to give it its full name) and it's nicely sized for three 5x4 darkslides. It cost somewhere between £2 and £3 and would be fine for you if you put in a bit of bubblewrap to take up the ...

Re: A stupid Question

I don't think you have much to worry about Keith, since 5x4 will probably be the last LF size to disappear. I think that this year's Ilford LF run may be quite scarily priced, but fingers crossed that it isn't too bad. I've got a wholeplate camera with some Wephota film that came with it, plus a box...

Re: enlarger

WTB a 5x4" enlarger, either b/w or colour. Money no object, as I don't have much. Barry You probably know this already, but if you put your postcode into eBay you can then search on "nearest first" from the ending soon, newly listed, etc dropdown, and that's useful for bulky items like an LF enlarg...
