Re: Film from Europe

Sorry to be a bore BUT I let the holiday season pass and tried Photoimpex again. The answer is NO. They claim that contractual obligations with Nigel at Retrophotographic will not allow them to export goods to England. As for Nigel, I think that he must have died and nobody can locate the body, cer...

On the other hand from China I tried the "Era" and didn't like it at all. It was very, very cheap (I have about 80 sheets left!), but the film base is a lot thinner and the sheet 'curves' a bit doing processing. It's just about good enough for lens tests ! So the ERA are simmilar as Efke? Like very...

I must say that I also had a bad experience with Retrophoto, and resorted not to order from them either. For 'cheap film' I use the Shanghai from China; I must say it works fantastic. Did about 200 sheets over a year and had zero problem. Same reciprocity and times as fp4+, and £10 / 25 sheets. Cus...

My way of doing it is this I use an ark of ticker Rives or any other 100% cotton acid free paper with smooth surface than mounting the print on it with those photo corners and back it up with 100% cotton acid free ticker cardboard. (Its cost a lot here). Those two I mount together with tape on the f...

It’s not that easy to give any advice to anyone about lenses they should use. I think it’s a very personal thing but what I can do is to tell you what kind of lenses I use on my own 4x5 Linhof kardan. This is the camera I use for outside work for most of the time. I have a Schneider Super Angulon 12...

I use loaded holders because of the low cost of films but, I have one pack of quickload with me for the occasions when I run out of film and don’t have a possibility to re-load.
You know those times when you are not done and it’s too early to go back home.

That argument doesnt hold water, after all Hungary is in the EU too :-) More likely the asset strippers who bought Forte wanted too much money. Kentmere are more than capable of producing a paper similar to Polywarmtone if they wanted. The equation also had to include the last major distributors of...

Arax does not answer to my mail. Does any of you have been contact with them lately? Or simply, they just don't bother with any repair any longer. By the way I got a letter from Roy at the Balham optics and he told me that the repair would cost me from £45 up to 145 in the worse scenario. Now, it's ...
