crazy paving
Hello folks, I would appreciate some opinions on the pic: http://www.chtwist.com/stash/klaustur2bWM.jpg It's the stumpy end of some basalt columns times 4. Any comments are welcome, but to make things easy I have set up a poll (anonymous). Unfortunately you can only choose one option. Thanks, Charles

Hello Jo, We got that far! To take Chong's pic as an example, here is what he wrote in his original message [img ]http://gallery.photo.net/photo/4739118-lg.jpg[ /img] All on one line naturally. You can copy any one of his URL's and they will lead you to a picture; it's not a spelling mistake problem...

Hi Gari, There is an irony in seeing the signature which follows your message: you need vision indeed! Well, what's strange is that I can't see any of the pics until I copy the URL into another tab of my browser. The pic then appears in both that tab AND on the forum page. One for the technical guys...

Of the three this is the one I find easiest to appreciate, perhaps being closer to my concerns. I must admit not understanding the Craster photo one bit. In contrast, with these rocks, I can see a composition, I can see a study of foreground rocks counterbalanced by some scenery. Everything that mat...

Outdoor photo
Hello all,
I was once subscribed to Outdoor Photography. They keep on thinking I might want to rejoin the fold. Latest offer is a yearly subscription for £25 which is really quite good value. If anybody here wants to take it up, PM me and and it's yours.

seeing things
Hello All, I have a scientific/physiological question to exercise your sharp minds. Why is it that I perceive sunset colours to be orange, while I do not perceive the colour of cloudy weather to be blue? I hope I am not alone in this. We are all familiar with the orange sunset part, so I will say no...

Formatt filters
Good evening all, Just a quick warning about Formatt filters. It's best not to use the Formatt sleeves (stiff plastic + card) as storage in the field. A couple months back, I bought an 81B which has seen a fair bit of action since then. It's now badly scratched - not deep gouges, but loads of little...

A thought that had crossed my mind too, but which I soon shelved. I am not saying it can't be done, and I did note a few ideas from the programmes. But I have less lofty aims I wish to achieve first. If we are talking reasonably depictive paintings, let us say pre-1900, then I would put them in two ...

I can't remember the quote exactly, but something like: "copying one person is plagiarism, copying many is influence". I think that in the process of becoming a better photographer, trying to emulate photographers whose style/results/approach we admire, can only be a good thing. It helps to broaden ...

You'll get the hang of it after a while so that you'll know to add 1/3, 2/3 or a full stop, just by gauging the magnification on the ground glass. It's rare it gets to more than one stop unless you get in really close. The usual rule (for non-tele lenses) is extension divided by focal length, the wh...

Hello, Can confirm that BPD have been shockingly bad in their admin, putting the wrong address on the enveloppe in at least one case and not sending it by special delivery in an other (3 packets lost in 9 months...). Things seem to be better now as I have severely lambasted them and I now get person...

How to scan and save to your hard drive, I presume you have mastered (?). Now how to show on the forum: you first need to upload the image to webworld, to a site you have FTP access to. Then in a second instance, you refer to the URL within your post using the Img button just above the text box wher...

That is so smooth. They really had these things sussed back in them DOS days. This thing predicts any date and runs off half a floppy: beat that Mr Gates! It seems to me we have gone backwards somewhere. That's the theme of this LF lark, I suppose. Anyway, I'll check it out against the UKHO figures ...
