Wow indeed! In a similar vein, I am upgrading my website and would like to use a map of GB. Scale does not need to be fantastic but outlines should be clear enough to know where we are looking at. Of particular use would be a map for Snowdonia, and one for western Scotland (inc islands). Does anyone...

Further to my previous email, I had previously been recommended http://www.optil.co.uk/ . They seem pretty clued up.

Personally, I take my esteemed relics to http://www.camera-clinic.co.uk/ . I don't know about something as delicate as the shutter blades, but they fixed a faulty aperture disc on my 40-year Symmar for something like £40-50. Always struck me as being on the ball. I am pretty sure they can recalibrat...

Good evening all LF'ologists! Your website has been updated! Please take a look and come back to me with any comments, (deliberate) mistakes, etc. At the end of the day, it is your website, destined to hold what you want: I am only a (temporary) custodian. If something needs changing, shout about it...

I think it would be a good idea to have a page where newcomers can glean some info. Could the good samaritans on this list add to what I have written below? Thanks, Charles Prices: folding view camera: £350-450 for a good'un; lenses: £200 each for a decent modern lens (the lenses hold well the test ...

Next time we go to Wales, I'll get you to carry Steve Bell's bag then... Seriously, a reasonable kit is 15kg, before you start on food, water, clothes, etc... :( Think about how far you want to yomp and that will determine a lot of things like bag configuration, weight and volume of kit. You ...

(1) Geoff, Maybe we should be allowed to quote a painter as inspiration to our photography. I know a lot more about painting than I do about photography! DW's photograph above reminds me very much of Ben Nicholson. I have spent quite some time reading about and looking at paintings of the early 20th...

Good one! I'll give it a crack. I am no gear-head, and I know very little about photographers. But I do admire a certain type of photography. All landscape photographs are abstractions of Nature but some are more abstracted than others. I admire the ability of some to take the mundane and make a bol...

You can use a dead 58mm filter or a filter with a plastic insert in lieu of the glass. SRB do them, but a scratched UV filter in your local camera shop will be cheaper.
Personally I am looking for a front lens cap to go on the Rodenstock 135mm! Filter size 40.5mm. Anyone?

Archiving

Could you please advise me? I am looking for acid-free plastic sleeves to hold 4 of my 5x4 trannies on each page. I also need each pocket to be open on the shorter side. The Kenro sleeves have pockets which are open on the longer side and cause the trannies to fall out. Secol do the AS202P4SE as see...

What is the vignetting due to on the bottom pictures? Is it the image circle dropping off because of a lot movement or of a very large format? Or was it added later for effect? If the former, what are the lenses and format? Just curious. Thanks,

Not a bad idea in some ways. Just a couple comments: (i) I think that Jo has gained considerable experience in organising these get-togethers and now has a routine - which cuts out a lot of the stress. (ii) We have the workshops at lf-photo email address which is useful for organising these get-toge...
