Charles, Thanks for your thoughts on this picture. I try to avoid the use of ND grads, mainly since I'm so inept with them. In this case, I metered for the clouds and sky, and let everything else fall naturally, since the dynamic range of the scene was less than 4 stops. Lucky accident, more or less...

Sunrise, Whiten Head
I took this last May, whilst on holiday here in Sutherland (I have now relocated up here -- I guess I just like rain!). Intrigued as to what people think of this image: http://www.dprees.com/images/20060502-0520-V50-002-adj-bigweb.jpg Velvia 50 f11 @1/30th Schneider 120mm Very mild crop to remove ex...

Only 9 months late ... I blame the lack of a suitable scanner! Glencoe Workshop
Better late than never -- though only just... Finally sent off my films from the Glencoe workshop, and scanned them in. Here are several I quite like: Saturday Pretty wet; this is the only LF shot managed, down Glen Etive: http://www.dprees.com/images/20061028-xxxx-V50-001-adj-midweb.jpg Sunday Day ...

I use a Pentax Spotmeter V -- with zone system scale attached to the dial, so I can instantly see into what zone different readings fall (as per the illustration on p68 of "The Negative" by Ansel Adams). As Joanna says, this is very useful for B&W, but still useful for film stocks with less dynamic ...

FS: Wistar 180mm f5.6 in Copal Press No. 1 Shutter
This lens came with my first LF camera, a Wista DX 5x4. Working fine, but now I've purchased a few other lenses, it is simply a focal length I don't use. Rather than continue to carry it, I thought I would give it an opportunity to find a new home. Specs: Focal Length: 180mm Max. Aperture: f5.6 Min....

Paul, Good to meet you at last, at the Somerset workshop. As a relative newbie to LF, I have been very appreciative of the help and support provided by you in the past, and also available from everyone at the recent workshop. Though I understand that any particular meeting must have restrictions on ...
