Silly Jobo Spiral Question

Hi - Just about to use my ATL1000 for the first time. I have the Jobo sheet film reel 2509n for 6 5x4 sheets ready. One end of the reel is clear plastic and one is black. Is there a specific way round the reel goes in the tank? Or doesn't it matter? thanks in advance nn :) P.S. how will I be able to...

Re: Happy New Year from Banstead, Surrey

Hi there I'm from Tooting so I'm (almost) just up the road from you. If you are interested in a meet up I can give yo demonstrations of my stuff. My cameras include a Vista 5x4, Gandolphi 5x4, Speed Graphic 5x4 and a Deardorff 10x8. I'm not interested in selling, merely letting you look before you l...

Re: Schneider lens question from a very Newbie!

I tend to buy LF lenses from the US as their prices are generally much lower. This is of course before the miserable bu**ers at the Post Office and HM Customs take their percentage. So be careful when purchasing as what seems to be a bargain may not by the time you unwrap the box in the UK. In gene...

Re: please can anyone tell me?

The Radionar design was a triplet and is listed in The Lens Vade Mecum in several focal lengths and formats. Almost all of them seem to be for either 35mm to 6x6cm formats in a different focal lengths but I haven't found a 90mm one listed. There was a Radionar 105mm listed for a 5x4 passport cameras...

and you call yourself a photographer Sorry to appear a bit abrupt about your last quote, there was no offence taken - I usually feel I should tell people about my perceived limitations. Believe it or not I have never used the flash on my Canon 20D since purchase except on the day I unpacked it from...

Re: Just purchased Jobo Atl 1000 - need a bit of help please

Well its got me a bit mystified, a 3-bath e6 process worked fine. tested with water and all was fine process time OK and temperature 100°F. But still no 74°F on a B&W process though. That is OK, I can work around it. I compiled my instructions PDF from the JOBO website so you can read a printed page...

Re: Just purchased Jobo Atl 1000 - need a bit of help please

Well I have just tested the thing out - the cleaning option works OK apart from failing to empty solution bottle No6. I can fix this as I have some spare seals. But the main problem is that the machine fails to heat the water bath. - The water seems to be recirculating, the little green light next t...

Re: Just purchased Jobo Atl 1000 - need a bit of help please

As suggested here are some photographs of the unit in question: http://www.londontramways.net/atl1000-pix/index.html Sorry they are on my website, I couldn't find a way of linking them directly in a post - I don't use Flickr etc. and my website does not permit direct linking. Sorry also for the dela...

Just purchased Jobo Atl 1000 - need a bit of help please

Hi I have just got hold of a Jobo Atl 1000. I have still to test the unit out fully although I saw it working before purchase. It seems to differ slightly from the diagram / pictures on the Jobo website as it has two (turnable) knobs on the control panel and a small press switch on the side. The low...

Re: WTB: Jobo paper clip thingy's

Try cutting some single core cable (aprox 9.0mm diameter) into a 1½ inch lengths taking out the centre core(s) then cut a slit in the cable with a razor blade or scalpel to fit the rail in the tank. You may have to make the slit slightly wider at the ends to facilitate installation and removal but i...

Numbering sheets of film

Hi - I have decided that I ought to start taking notes for each LF shot I take. Obviously I will have to reconcile the notes for each shot with the sheet of film when it is processed. I have carefully numbered all my film holders (on the outside) both sides odd and even. However I am stuck when it c...

Re: geared tripod heads

I have done some research - my camera, biggest lens and one dd slide weighs just a fraction under 7Kg - the 410 has a 5 kg capacity so it looks like it won't be suitable for the 10 x 8, especially if you count leverage when / if the camera is positioned at an excessive angle - so I am still on the l...

geared tripod heads

Hi - I have purchased a new tripod, a Berlebach 3042 to use with my Gandolfi 5 x 4 and occasionally my 10 x 8 Deardorff. I'm very happy with the tripod but need a head to go with it on occasion. At present I am using a fairly old Manfrotto 3-way head that functions adequately with the Gandolfi, but ...
