Re: Still dreaming of 5x4

*edit* Forgot. I do love looking at the work of people like Mr Cornish. However, I wouldn't know why he uses a particular camera and for what reason. I do know that he has preferred LF for a long time. But why he uses particular camera movements etc are beyond me at the moment. That is why I asked ...

Re: Definition of "Fine Art"?

Had a look at wiki where there seems to be a trend to regard fine art photography as the realisation of the photographers creative vision as opposed to a commercial motive. This would make most of the photogarphy appearing at camera clubs up and down the countrty fine art photography! It would also ...

Definition of "Fine Art"?

Just pondering (in a quiet moment) just what is the definition of "Fine Art".

Are there a set of parameters that make a print I produce a fine art print or is it just an arbitary form of snobbery?

Re: Scanners info

Just for info : I am still using my old Epson 2450. I scan all my 4x5s at 2400dpi using Hamrick's Vuescan software. Works ok for 30" wide prints at 360dpi.

I must be doing something wrong. I have two Ebony cameras and although I have put them together in a cupboard overnight they absolutely will not breed! :P

Re: Hello from Hartlepool

Welcome to the forum Peter. You're certainly blessed with being in a great part of the country. I often find Bedfordshire a bit limiting. As for the RSW, its a great camera, especiallly if you are apt to venture into the country backpacking with it. I had mine 8 1/2 years before I finally succombed ...

Re: Mistakes we've made...

My most embarassing mistake was when I set up a nice view with my 90mm wide angle lens and took the picture. Then thinking the view would also look good with a 150mm standard lens, I changed lenses, turned the DDS over and took another shot. Whoops! Forgot about re-focusing for the lens change. I ha...

Re: ND filters for long exposures

I've been shooting LF since 2002 now and have settled on just 5 filters; 1-3 is a set of LEE hard grads. Initially I did try using these stacked. 4 is a cheap screw-on polariser. And I mean cheap - 50p from a bring and buy sale. 5 is a B+W 6 stop ( 1.8 ) screw-on ND which gets very rare use but I th...

Re: Filters for Colour Transparencies

Yes, it was shot in Morlaix, Brittany. You wouldn't have any problem with halos in B&W, simply because you wouldn't need to shove as many filters on the lens as I had to to try and adjust the colour temperature; the halos were purely due to using at least 3 uncoated filters  :D Joanna, I've ...

Re: Services Forum

Thats all very well, but why not just copy the structure of the US Forum. I suspect the traffic on this new structure would be very low as most people (well, me anyway) go to the other forum for tech/hardware stuff. To be honest I'm not bothered what you add here but I would like to express a prefer...

To DJ:
I am more than happy for my images in the UKLFPG Gallery to be removed and replaced with a link to my "UKLFPG Workshops" set on Flickr if that makes things easier.
