Re: ND filters for long exposures
After recent images posted here in this forum I'd think twice of buying a Lee filter if I wanted an ND filter, they seem to suffer worse than uncoated glass filters in terms of causing internal lens/filter reflections. I'm sorry Ian but you really shouldn't jump to such conclusions, especially when...

Re: ND filters for long exposures
Don't forget, at the moment, Lee are quoting around six months lead time for new orders of filters. Oh, and that I can do 15% discount if you want to order through me

Re: Thread subscriptions
Changing the global preference will only stop notifications for threads to which you are not already subscribed. So, you will have to unsubscribe manually from those threads to which you are already subscribed. But, once you have unsubscribed from those threads to which you have replied, you should ...

Re: Thread subscriptions
Rather than turn off the global setting for notifications like that, you can simply turn off subscriptions to individual threads by going to the bottom of the thread and clicking on the "Unsubscribe topic" link. That way, you won't miss notifications to your messages that you might want to know about.

Re: Calculating exposures
unfortunately the link doesn't work for me. Appreciate another try if possible. Tony The page should come up alright, but then you need to click on the link on that page for the file. At least, that's how it works in Firefox on a Mac. If that doesn't work, try right-clicking on the link in Emmanuel...

Re: Calculating exposures
One factor that comes to mind is the order in which Excel is evaluating the formula (operator precedence). I'm sure you know this Charles but, for the sake of others who may not know: 1 + 2 x 3 = ? A lot of people will evaluate that to an answer of 9 but, according to the rules of operator precedenc...

Re: Filters for Colour Transparencies
This discussion opens a wider can of worms because you can see many long exposures dawn and dusk shot on Velvia with magenta casts, they seem almost the norm, but I've never had that problem when I was still shooting Velvia, and I never used a filter for long daylight exposures. Are they over doing...

Re: Filters for Colour Transparencies
A factor that's being missed is how a film behaves with reciprocity failure, Velvia does worse than Astia and Kodak E6 films and has a tendency to quite marked colour shifts towards yellw/green even with exposures less than a minute, the later versions are better than the original. So ironically co...

Re: Filters for Colour Transparencies
It's not worth spending too long discussing an image that's a reject. I would take exception to that. It is not a reject; it conveys very well the atmosphere at the time, given the limitations of the available lighting. However it's wrong to try and fully correct with a colour meter. When we sit in...
